PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

• Highly-motivated and team-oriented PhD candidate in chemical engineering with a specialization in polymer and surface chemistry, and aspirations for a career in product development

• Hands-on experience in functional polymer synthesis, particle and surface modification, fluorescence labelling, surface characterization, and bacterial/protein - polymer brush interfacial interactions

• Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills as demonstrated by more than 10 technical conference presentations and being president of SPE-UH Chapter for two years WORK EXPERIENCE

GRADUATE RESEARCH AS S I STANT

• Planned and conducted the experiments to investigate the pH-responsive, poly(acrylic acid) brush

(functionalized polymer) structure-property relationships by varying polymer brush properties resulting in the unforeseen effects of dispersity on brush pH-response

• Developed functional anti-bacterial coatings after understanding bacterial-polymer brush interactions using microfluidics & microscopy, leading to more than 80% reduction in bacterial fouling

• Group expert on surface functionalization, having mentored two undergraduates, a masters and a PhD student in projects regarding polymer functionalization of silicon wafers, nanoparticles and proppants

• Used fluorescence microscopy to determine viability of fluorescently labelled bacteria, and also to examine the adhesion mechanisms using particle tracking/image analysis algorithms

• Innovative problem-solving skills with experience in diagnosis and troubleshooting research challenges University of Houston / 2012 - Present

RESEARCH INTERN

• Ability to work independently with experience of performing extensive energy and cost analysis regarding ethanol production from renewables and non-renewables for a client (fortune 500 company) which contributed towards a $700 million investment towards ethanol production facility

RESEARCH INTERN

• Strong team-player, having designed experimental set up in a interdisciplinary team for testing early detection methods for household kitchen fires, and encouraging results from the project laid the foundation stone for a $500,000 investment in development of fire safety centre at IIT GN
