Blackbaud is a major player in the non-profit industry, offering multiple cloud and stand-alone CRM products either written in-house or acquired. Primary systems are Raisers Edge, Financial Edge, Team Approach, Luminate on-line, and SalesForce CRM.

Primary function is to maintain data integrity across multiple platforms, balance loads, reduce duplication and provide reporting capability. Responsible for managing customer reported problem queue, scoping, directing, and coding custom software modifications, and maintaining customer relationships through direct interaction. United Healthcare was awarded the support contract for STAR, STAR PLUS and CHIP programs for multiple counties within the state of Texas.

Managed Oracle real-time, and data warehouse reporting system supporting ad-hoc, and scheduled reports, as well as daily feeds to and from the state. Data was comprised of all STAR, STAR PLUS and CHIP claims submitted in the counties supported by UHC.

Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX 2008 – 2011

SMU is a 100 year-old private university in Dallas, Texas. During my time there the university embarked on a multi-year 750 million dollar fundraising campaign.

Reporting Team & Data Warehouse Manager – University Advancement

Led the fundraising department (University Advancement) in transition from a PeopleSoft based donor management system to the next generation Blackbaud CRM. Managed a team of developers, report writers and researchers that identified current and future business needs, performed a complete data conversion, and constructed a SQL Server based data warehouse to support reporting, all while actively maintaining the current legacy system, and an on-going 750 million dollar fundraising campaign.

Researched and documented every aspect of a complex home-grown fundraising and gift management system, including pledged, annual and planned giving, alumni tracking, event and campaign planning.

Developed reporting cube and datamart to support current and projected future university advancement needs.

Turned a diverse group of very unique individuals into an effective and cohesive team.

Advised on initial fundraising system setup for George Bush Presidential Library.

University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX 2005 – 2008

UTMB is the original and oldest medical school in Texas. During my time there the university started and successfully completed a 250 million dollar fundraising campaign.

Managed third party Raisers Edge constituent and gift tracking system as well as in-house Access based reporting tools. Streamlined data entry processes, constructed a datamart to replace an inadequate reporting system, and shaped processes that utilized existing alumni and constituent data to identify potential fresh donors. Directed research, reporting and gift entry team with daily oversight of gift entry, policy review, and required UT System reporting.

Key Achievements

Developed tools that provided a weighted evaluation of existing alumni and research data to promote potential major donors.

Created custom reporting datamart to evaluate multiple campaign tracks, provide receipting and individualized thank you letters and sync with CASE standard reporting. Datamart was recognized with a special award from UT System, and my team and I were invited to travel to other campuses to share expertise.

Developed disaster recovery plan utilized during hurricanes Rita and Ike.

Computer Directions, Dallas, TX 1998 – 2003

Computer Directions was a contract placement firm created to take advantage of the outsourcing trend and Y2K scare of the '90's. All of my contract work was for JCPenney corporate headquarters.

Developer and Project Lead

Managed JCPenney warehouse inventory and catalog order entry system. Warehouse system was legacy-based IMS and DB2, synced nightly. Catalog order entry system was SQL Server based with Visual Basic front end. This application was distributed across ten national call centers and 3,000-plus individual workstations.

Key Achievements

Developed a process that utilized SSIS scheduling services to check for and distribute nightly software updates and patches.

Added pre-GPS search logic to find nearest store, based on captured telephone (hard-wired house phone) location data and longitude/latitude data for JCPenney stores.
