Powertrain Calibration Engineer, Formula SAE, BUAA, Beijing, China
Designed calibration test for our racing engine whose intake, exhaust and lubrication system were totally redesigned. Determined the performance and fuel consumption indicators. Created a Design FMEA after completing P-Diagram. Verified reliability and manufacturability for every part by GD&T and FEA.
Managed CAN bus for engine, motor and Bosch sensors connection. Developed and implemented best practice calibration solutions and performing OBD verification testing. Referenced P-Diagram during PFMEA.
Estimated the defects of hardware & software that were related to entire system, to modify calibration strategy.
Closed the feedback control of A/F ratio to turn the system into open-loop control. Adjusted engine map on ECU(MoTec, i2, ATI) to improve performance and maintain calibration guide as well as FSAE rules documentation. Reported everyday and various cases & findings in OBD to improve reliability and durability of the system.
Diagnosed design deficiency of intake system: no matter how to adjust injection and ignition map, there was always an indentation on external characteristics curve. Result attributed to insufficient intake air.
Co-developing with our HEV team, achieved engine getting involved into power when RPM reached 7000.

Acted as an assistant to creat and visualize control algorithms for engine control module (ECM)and common powertrain controller (CPC). Defined the template/format and generate test reports. Set up testing environment on HIL(Hardware in loop), prototype test cases and processing test data. Also did 3D-Modeling for engine parts.
Acted as assistant tester for TA1 engine: Organized documentation of China emission regulatory requirements.

3D-modeling by CATIA V5. Implemented the FEA algorithm by writing code in Matlab. Applied element stiffness matrix, consistent load vectors and analyzed the variation per different load, act position and directions.
Fabricated model in CATIA, verified strain and stress distribution in ANSYS then compared with results in MATLAB. Based on the results to improve the design: Changed design, added accessary structure and replaced material.

Analyzed data collected by Wheel Speed Sensors (drive speed, ground speed) to verify tire slip rate during starting; Achieved the engine torque output limitation through controlling RPM which based on the speed curve. Evaluated racing car performance and drivability on track, in vehicle test.
Managed technical road tests of OBD diagnostic calibrations to meet optimum start curve. Set triggering condition of LC in ECU. Analyzed engine data (MoTec), operating conditions and calibration adjustments to ensure optimum at-track performance and reliability. Achieved 75m drag race in 3.8s and 95% shifting success rate.
