PROJECT/WORK EXPERIENCE

Mar 2015 - present. Self-employed/Consultant. While enrolled full-time in school (SUNY Empire State College, Bachelor's in Computer Science [Mar 2015 – May 2017], Bachelor's in Nursing [May 2017 – present] ), provided support and services to various clients. This included installation and maintenance of dental practice software, dental imaging software, MS SQL Server, including backup, recovery, and user training. Designed and implemented VPN and disaster recovery scheme using Amazon AWS, LogMeIn Hamachi VPN, RealVNC, and Dropbox to provide for failover. Responsible for maintaining user security and access, system security, backup, system health monitoring, and providing hardware and software troubleshooting as needed. Design, installation, and maintenance of client web sites.

Apr 2010 – Feb 2015. Registered Nurse Case Manager for Hospice Care Network. Home hospice care including supervision of associated staff, medication and physician coordination and management. Provided clinical IT support to team members on Suncoast EMR software, including troubleshooting and training. Worked with IT and clinical staff to recommend improvements in the EMR system, including needed bug fixes.

Jan 2007 – Sep 2013. Registered Nurse, Huntington Hospital. Staff on oncology, medical-surgical, and psychiatry units. Provided support and training on the McKesson EMR system, including user training and support before and after converting from legacy EMR system to McKesson.

Jan 2004 – Dec 2006. SUNY Nassau Community College – Associate Degree (Nursing). While enrolled full-time, maintained support and services to various clients including include installing SQL Server and MySQL databases, Microsoft servers, client server programming, and software design to meet user and institutional requirements along with 24 hour support. Design, installation, and maintenance of various client web sites.

Dec 2000 – Jun 2003. For International Fund Services (now a State Street Company), Senior Database Administrator. Duties included maintaining, upgrading, monitoring Sybase Adaptive Server and Replication Server in production, QA and development environments. Wrote Perl and Korn shell scripts to automate and reduce DBA tasks. Tasks included improving and writing database code (stored procedures and triggers). Lead person for infrastructure, capacity planning, disaster recovery and performance tuning. Set up replicated databases (warm standby) for 97 databases along with automated scripts to monitor/fix replication.

June 1998 – Dec 2000. Consulting/short-term assignments.

Apr 2000 – Dec 2000. For Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, database developer for the Internet Group. Converted legacy and workstation databases to MS SQL Server 7.0. including performance tuning and capacity management. Designed, wrote, and supervised/implemented browser-based front-end development to interface with the converted back-end systems. Trained group members for database conversion/maintenance responsibilities.

May 1999 – Mar 2000. For ClearStation, a subsidiary of E*Trade, database administrator/developer for the financial analysis system. Wrote stored procedures/triggers, designed database tables/indexes and supporting Unix shell/perl scripts for the system. Created and maintained all servers in development and production. Tasks included site administration, monitoring, database server monitoring, interfacing/improving C-Db-Lib programs, capacity/performance enhancements, choosing hardware for upgrade paths, migrating databases from version 11.0.3 to 11.5 to 11.9.2

Aug 1998 – Apr 1999. For Commerzbank Capital Markets, database administrator for the trading system. Wrote all stored procedures/triggers, designed database tables/indexes and supporting Unix scripts for the system. Created and maintained all servers in development and production. Installed and maintained Apache Web Server along with Sybase WebSQL to facilitate database information access. Wrote Visual Basic applications to support Trader reporting and viewing activities. Programmed in Visual Basic for Applications in creating customized reporting screens. Java (JDK 1.6) to monitor/track server performance and status. Assisted developers in debugging C++ (Unix) and Visual C++ programs that accessed the database. Wrote Korn shell scripts to monitor/execute batch jobs and other trading system utilities (adding traders to system, adding new products and accounts). Used Platinum ERWin in logical / physical modelling. Solely maintained 10+ SQL Servers.

June 1998 – Aug 1998. For Greenwich Capital Markets, database administrator for all GCM trading systems. Tasks included server installation, database creation, maintenance, trouble shooting and product support for SQL Server and Replication Server. Wrote Perl scripts to track server status and maintain databases. Wrote Korn shell scripts to access/manage 60+ SQL Servers and 4+ Replication Servers. Assisted developers in debugging stored procedures and C programs. Used Platinum ERWin to do logical/physical database design.

Oct 1995 – June 1998. For Citibank (New York), database administrator for the Citibank Derivative Systems development group. Tasks included server installation, database creation, maintenance and trouble shooting. Developed scripts/utilities that were used to monitor and administer database systems. Was secondary DBA backup to Production systems and also installed and tested the latest Sybase software before it was released for use in CDS. Tasks also included installing, monitoring and trouble-shooting Sybase replication server. Installed and maintained Apache Web server using CGI scripts to allow user related utilities. Wrote Korn shell scripts to manage/configure 40+ SQL Servers and 12+ Replication Servers. Assisted developers in debugging C++ (Unix) programs that accessed the database.

May 1995 - Sep 1995. For HBO and Company (Atlanta), Systems Operations and Design Consultant. Primary responsibilities were advising HBO Database Administrators on database and procedure design and implementation. Developed SA stored procedure utilities to enable HBO clients to administer their databases and in trouble shooting Sybase sites for HBO and HBO clients. Assisted developers in debugging/designing Visual C++ programs. Designed and wrote Visual C++ program to do a customized installation of database schema.

Nov 1994 - Jan 1995. For Goldman Sachs and Company, System Analyst/Programmer and Database Analyst/Administrator for Payroll Systems. Tasks included replicating databases across SQL servers and stream-lining/enhancing payroll data modem transfers to ADP, and monitoring and support for the Payroll data transfer and processing to and from ADP. Wrote Bourne shell scripting and C to replicate between servers and for payroll data transfer.

May 1994 – Oct 1994. For Goldman Sachs and Company, System Analyst/Programmer and Database Analyst for the Audit Confirm System. Tasks included optimizing database access and developing software as required for the project, design and creation of tables, indexes, procedures, granting access rights and optimizing database design for maximum throughput. Used TeleUse with C/Motif to write programs used in the Audit Confirms System and wrote stored procedures triggers for the system.

Jun 1990 - Dec 1993. For Sealol Hindustan Ltd. (subsidiary of EG&G Sealol–UK), System Analyst/Programmer, Database Analyst, and an Implementation and User Trainer. Tasks included creation of devices for databases and logs and creation of databases, creation of user logins, table and index creation and granting access rights. Set up UNIX logins, home directory and access paths and monitored usage of disk space. Converted Unify database to Sybase and wrote stored procedures and triggers to support the conversion. Application development was done using C / DB Lib. Used C to write all programs for the system.

Mar 1986 - May 1990. For Amir Hotels (Pune), a five star hotel in India, served as a computer department head. Tasks included design, development, implementation and maintenance of on-line systems, interaction with user departments and identifying their requirements. Prepared system requirement, system design, program specification documents, as well as user manuals. Used Cobol and C to write programs for the system.
