Experience
Work 2010-Present
n Costco Optical Lab: Lab technician
- Acted as backup supervisor before starting part-time employment. Involved assigning employee positions to maximize production. Insure that production is operating smoothly by maintaining an overall scope on operations and responding to any incidence accordingly.
- Operate anti-reflective coating machines: Change chemicals, sand blast stainless steel shields in coating machines. Troubleshoot when errors arise. Clean and maintain electron beam gun, and ion gun.
- Inspect lenses before and after coating. Prepare lenses for coating. Reference: Ted Fleming (Manager), Email: **********.***@*****.*** Phone: 206-***-**** n Before 2010: Retail assistant at Quiksilver, Outside hill crew at Summit at Snoqualmie Tubing Center, Blizzard Tech at Dairy Queen.
Course work/ Lab
n Three quarters of inorganic chemistry lab, Two quarters of organic chemistry lab: Recrystallization, fractional distillation, titration, mass spectrometry, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and gas chromatography. Three quarters of engineering physics lab.
n Chemical engineering lab:
o Polymers lab: 3-D printing, dynamic light scattering, membrane osmometry, and gel filtration chromatography.
o Colloids lab: Measurement of surface tension, adsorption, wetting and spreading, colloid properties, nanostructure, material characterization, electrokinetic phenomena, and rheology. o Chemical engineering lab II and I: Emphasis on teamwork, experimental planning, procedures, report writing, and oral presentations. Experiments on fluid mechanics and heat transfer. One-pot pretreatment of switch grass to be converted to glucose. Use of BioFlo CelliGen 115 benchtop bioreactor to optimize ethanol production via fermentation using fed-batch or batch reactor conditions. o ChemE controls/sensors lab: Install sensor on test apparatus, develop test plan to perform a measurement capability study. Develop models on Simulink using varying control methods, test on tank-pump apparatus for a given control objective.
