Communications Technician
Technical Scope: Provide support for the NASA LSP prepare for and complete launch with skilled troubleshooting, operational checks, and required maintenance
Millions of government dollars are at stake during a launch, so exceptionally skilled technicians are required to support operations. Responsible to manage corrective and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment. Performed equipment validation & verifications, troubleshooting and diagnostic testing to identify and implement required repairs, when necessary. Operated assigned communication equipment or manned Voice/Video consoles in support of launches or stands-by for emergency trouble clearance. Adhered to technical documentation and drawings in support of the Launch Processing systems (LPS) to create a safe and reliable work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Interfaced with NASA representatives to provide support in video, voice, and network operations.
Performed routine operational checks on assigned equipment, and implemented repairs or corrective action when necessary. Utilized SharePoint system to accurately document preventative maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
Monitored equipment and systems integrity during spacecraft launch or emergency clearance operations.
Used technical expertise to install or collaborate on installs of equipment, systems, or sub-systems as needed to gather necessary data. Analyzed various electronic systems to determine faulty components, and completed necessary repairs.

Lead Telemetry Technician
Technical Scope: Directed technician team’s scope of work and activities to provide monitoring and maintenance of equipment used in the transmission of measured real time Space Shuttle data.
Provided leadership and management to a team of telemetry technicians to support NASA Space Shuttle operations. Directly monitored and provided technical guidance to technicians and ensured technical competence, workmanship, thoroughness, and safety. Passionate about quality of work and attention to detail as mistakes could cost lives or damage to millions of government dollars’ worth of equipment. Provided technical leadership for pre- and post-sales support to sales organization, and promotion of SAN Switch, Fiber Channel and SCSI Host Bus Adapter products. Created 8/16 Port SAN Switch qualifications with Sun and HP. Restored SAN issues in collaboration with corporate engineering team. Provided OEM technical / engineering support and conducted technical presentations, product demonstrations, and customer training. Liaised between Qlogic and OEM engineering.

Facilitated formal and on-the-job training and coaching for all technicians to increase knowledge and mastery of required skill sets. Training matter included data processing including system configuration, patching, data retrievals, test setups, and recorder area operations.
Monitored and reviewed quality of all work provided by technicians to ensure high quality and performance expectations were met. Addressed performance deficiencies on the spot, and ensured that necessary corrective training was completed.
Personally ensured all NASA documentation requirements were met, and monitored and enforced compliance with NASA and company regulations and policies.
