Over the years I have acquired a wide array of skills involving networks. I have worked in every area from Installation to Systems Administrator. I have worked with test groups and engineering groups alike. I have successfully worked in all these areas and I find that my skills in installation, configuration, and maintenance are exemplary, and over the years, have learned how vital it is to create documentation on installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining networks so that personnel following you can understand the scope of work.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Houston Inspection Fiber Utility Inspector 2016 - 2017
Hired on to oversee that all the network elements were correctly installed by the contactor. This included correct placing and splicing of the duct, Getting hand holes and splice vaults placed per the drawings, getting the fiber reels at the correct location and blown in, getting the network devices installed and lit up, and making sure network connectivity linked back to the home office.
Fiberlight Field Operations Technician 2012 - 2016
Worked with engineers and contract companies to build a 5000 mile Layer 2 ring with multiple sub-rings and lateral lines to tie in 300+ towers in West Texas on 100M to 10G circuits for Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile to enable their LTE networks using Ciena 3930’s, 3931’s, and 5410’s along with some MRV 960 and Fujitsu 7420 equipment. OTDR’ed hundreds of fibers and documented baseline losses in each. Verified configurations and traffic on over 150 sites in West Texas.
Task involved creating installation documentation, install network elements, load current OS and license keys, build, load and troubleshoot base configuration files, and baseline test each unit. Then assisted Engineering to implement Ciena’s EGR ring protection and then convert that over to a directional VLAN protection.
Integrated multiple Regen sites into the ring using Fujitsu 9500 equipment as ROADM and ILA as the site required. This involved creating documentation for the contractors to install the equipment, and then I would team up with another employee and perform CD/PMD testing to characterize each fiber so that the proper DA card and XFP could be ordered and slotted.
Integrated Layer 2 devices into the Regen with Ciena 5160’s and 5142’s, MRV-906’s, and Fujitsu 7420’s as enterprise customers signed on. Once again this involved creating installation documentation, install network elements, load current OS and license keys, load and troubleshoot base configuration files, and baseline test each unit.
Working with contractors, built many microwave hops using Exalt, Ceragon, and Aviat radios. This involved making sure the contractors set the dishes to the correct azimuth and getting the path set to the engineering spec. and then programming the radios and pathing the dishes to fine tune the RSL to optimal levels.
Helped fellow employees with network issues that they didn’t quite understand what was occurring in both the microwave side and optical side.
OSP-Being a turn-key operation, it was also my responsibility to monitor OSP operations. This included verifying all fiber was placed per TxDot specifications. Getting sequentials at HH’s and Aerial runs to the Fiber Engineers, making sure that all HH’s were properly placed and all aerial had proper height, guy wires and lashing.
Responsible for all records pertaining to recent laid fiber. Informed the engineers about changes in the network. Filled out SLW’s for all splices in my area. Checked all contractors’ red-lines for accuracy.
Helped the splicers in troubleshooting issues in the lines that they have completed.
In the event of a fiber cut in my area, it was my responsibility to collect all pertinent information about the cut and get pictures and physical information for management.
TSI/Tek Systems/Adex Systems Installer 2009 - 2012
Worked all areas of installation on Ericsson equipment of various designs including: Passports, DRSS's, BSCS's and VSE's at multiple customer locations including: AT&T, US Cellular, Sprint, and Verizon. My duties were to integrate and maintain the equipment. Additional task were to provision and test various T'1s, radio links, router links, and microwave links.
Installation of various types of equipment in AT&T CO’s including: Fiber, DS0, and DC power installations. The equipment involved various vendors including: Alcatel, Cisco Tellabs, and ADC.
Incorporated Cisco 2960 switches at multiple AMC theater sites to better secure access ports and to provide unity within the network. Task also included reloading the IOS and general network maintenance.
Designed and built several SOHO networks for doctor’s offices, trucking firm, collection agency, and various in home businesses. Programmed both wire-line and wireless routers and switches. Worked issues with Windows 2003 Server and XP workstations. Implemented best practice security for each customer based on the needs of the business.

Extensive test were utilized to verify that all end user whether be a customer, toll, or business performed within specs. Performed end–to-end continuity checks to verify that Fiber and Ethernet capabilities could be provided. Tested performance of fiber from the C.O., verify the documentation correctly reflected the actual network elements.
