Working for a Cisco Gold partner, I designed Cisco network solutions for customers including Cisco routing and switching, Cisco firewall/security, and Cisco collaboration. I provided Cisco best practice designs as well as create BOM quotes, professional service quotes and statements of work for customers.
As a Cisco gold partner I designed all Cisco solutions for customers which included –
Cisco ISR 4K routers, Catalyst switches, Nexus switches, ASA firewalls, Sourcefire, Call Manager, Cisco Wireless Controllers and Access Points.
I also did several deployments which included Cisco routing, switching, DMVPN, Cisco IWAN, and Cisco WAAS.

Network Manager/Sr. Network Engineer / Sr. Server Engineer
(2008-2016) - I transitioned to the network team in 2008. By 2012 I was the Sr. Network engineer as well as manager of the network team which consisted up to 2 additional team members/contractors. During my time as Sr. Network Engineer I head up all network projects from design to deployment to support which include all routing, switching, security (Cisco ASA/Sourcefire), VPN, collaboration, wireless, DMVPN, MPLS and WAAS. Hines is a 100% Cisco hardware shop as well as 100% Microsoft Active Directory/Exchange shop. My completed projects while leading the network team for 8 years included -
Designing and upgrading 3 global datacenters ( US, China and London) using Cisco ISR routers including 2800, 2900 and ISR 4000’s.
Implemented, administered and supported all Cisco switching which included Catalyst 4500’s, 2900’s and 3000 series switches. I also deployed several Cisco 9k switches at the primary datacenter located in the US.
Migrated from Cisco PIX to Cisco ASA 5500’s at the datacenters as well as deploy and support the VPN infrastructure ( also Cisco ASA)
Deployed a global Cisco wireless solution using Cisco 5500 Wireless Lan Controllers and all Cisco access points.
Deployed Cisco WAAS globally at braches offices while using WAAS WAE 694 appliance at their central datacenter.
Deployed global MPLS solution
Migrated globally from an MPLS to a DMVPN WAN solution.
Deployed, administered and supported Call Manager/Unity Connection and IM&Presence 9x/10x at the central office located in Houston along with several branch rollouts for their phone system requirements.

(2003 through 2008) - I was the Sr. Server Engineer designing administering and supporting the Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure as well as support for Exchange Server. I designed, deployed and supported the entire Microsoft Server infrastructure. I also designed, deployed and supported three Citrix farms located at 3 different datacenters around the globe.
My completed projects while leading the server team for 5 years included –
Migrating from Novell to Active Directory ( starting with Microsoft Server 2000, then upgrading to Server 2003 then 2008)
Deployed and supported Active Directory global group policies per company requirements
Migrating from Lotus notes to Microsoft Exchange 2003
Deployed global desktop antivirus solution using McAfee Antivirus and McAfee EPO for central administration and policies
Deployed Cisco IronPort for email security
For server hardware, Hines was initially 100% HP shop then we migrated to 100% Dell shop.
March 2000 – July 2003 Iconixx Consulting
Sr. Server Engineer / Consultant
Consultant responsibilities included planning, testing and implementing Microsoft NT/Windows 2000 Network environment for clients and provided support across the Houston area for their Microsoft NT/2000 networks and Exchange Server 5.5 messaging infrastructure. Client Servers were made up of Windows NT 4.0 Server and Windows 2000 Server. Other duties included time estimation, hardware cost analysis, and general project management.
As of January 2001, I moved to the internal MIS department to help design, rollout and support their Windows 2000 Active Directory infrastructure for the firm’s three locations in Houston, TX; Bethesda, MA and Kansas City made up of 16 servers, 350 workstations and over 200 Laptops. Duties also included supporting the corporate Directory Services(NT/Active Directory), Exchange Server 5.5/2000 messaging system, maintaining daily and weekly backups and provide daily support for over 550 employees and consultants out in the field.
Major Accomplishments:
Successfully migrated entire multi-office organization from a Windows NT Domain model to an Active Directory infrastructure.
Successfully migrated from Exchange Server 5.5 messaging to Exchange Server 2000
Oct 1999 – March 2000 (contract) Compaq Computers
Systems Engineer (Directory Services/High Availability group)
Job duties included leading a team in building and testing Windows 2000 Cluster services on Proliant servers with various hardware and network configurations in an Active Directory environment. Other services included testing Compaq’s latest management software and support packs on Compaq Proliant servers running Windows 2000 and NT4 operating systems with various hardware configurations and running heavy stress tests to submit results to Microsoft for Windows 2000 certification on various Proliant servers.
Daily and Weekly Procedures included:
Build Proliant servers with specific hardware requirements(specific fiber cards, network interface cards and raid array controllers/storage capacity
Install and configure NT Enterprise Server and Windows 2000 Advanced Server running on Active directory domains
Install and configure Microsoft Cluster Services
Install Exchange 5.5/2000{Beta} in clustered environment
Install SQL6x/7 in clustered environment
Run heavy stress tests on all clustered servers and document all results

Network Administrator
Installed and maintained a Microsoft NT domain network of 11 NT 4.0 Servers and 25 Windows 95/98/NT workstations. Installed and maintained Microsoft Exchange Server 5x messaging infrastructure supporting over 100 users. Job requirements also included installing and servicing all Microsoft network infrastructures for Double-Precision’s cliental and providing onsite support 24/7. Some client services provided were Install and maintain an NT domain model infrastructure running NT, wiring offices with Cat 5 cabling.
