Led team of 10 staff, in house and remotely, getting databases from
each cruise ship, amalgamating them into one. Comparing the new
database against former management company's. Installed new system
into their new HQ on M.S. 2007 Server and multiple workstations.
Ensured compatibility between office and vessels. Concluded project
when vessels and HQ communicating automatically.
. Project Leader. Sea Launch. Project Range: $90,000 - $100,000 Copied
database to new server, upgraded the Sybase database backend and then
the software. Installed the software on new workstations throughout
the "Commander" and resolved their timing issue with remote
workstations. Upgraded database and proprietary software on server and
workstations on "Launch Pad"
. Project Leader, Arctic Storm Management Group. Project Range:
$100,000 - $120,000 Upgraded Corporate HQ to SQL Server 2007 and the
proprietary software. Upgraded the two vessels Sybase backend and the
proprietary communications software.

This project was controlled by the Managing Director but each "Ship
Segment" was an individual project. I sailed on 10 container ships
around the world installing upgrades to proprietary, and
communications software, Sybase databases as well as officer and crew
training on the new versions.
. Project Member & Manager. Maersk USA. Flag Conversion Project
Project Range: $5,000,000 - $5,100,000
Maersk moved eight ships into the US fleet from Europe. As a team we
converted their database to SpecTec software and then I sailed on each
ship installing our software and ensuring data transfer from vessel to
corporate HQ in Virginia.
Princess Cruises, Santa Clarita, CA. Systems Administrator (1993
- 2008)
. Project Leader, New Build Spares Project. Cost Savings $1,200,000
Led team investigating "recommended spare parts" compared to parts
used by previous New Build Ships. We saved Princess Cruises over
$1,200,000 per New Build cruise ship, in unnecessary and shared
critical parts.
. Project Leader, Sarbanes-Oxley Tests. Government Regulations
Devised various tests necessary to prove compliance to the auditors.
Instructed others in required tests and maintained records of tests
and results for inspection by Government auditors.

This is the software system that controls the Engineering, maintenance
and spare part purchasing for each vessel. This project was managed
from the P&O offices in England. It involved migrating the data from
the cruise ships and the offices into Oracle databases. Redistributing
the databases and ensuring automatic data communication between USA,
England, and all the vessels.

This software, similar to a spec writing tool, is used for controlling
the multi million dollar refits. There are components on board the
ships as well as in the office with different permissions for each
area. I maintained the rules and kept the data communicating between
offices and ships. There was also considerable training involved both
on board and in the Shore Offices.
