**/**** - **/**** (Co-op)
DOD Electronics Engineer
Key hardware team member for the C-5 Avionics Maintenance Station (AMS). The C-5 AMS is the sole source designer, builder, and maintainer for a unique C-5 cockpit test bed. The test bed is built around a recovered cockpit from a C-5 that crashed at Dover AFB and includes custom hardware and software to create a “hardware in the loop” simulation of a C-5. This allows “flight” testing of new hardware and software without the cost or risk associated with aircraft flight testing. The team works within customer specifications and timelines, using the test bed to reduce downtime of the C5 fleet by providing direct testing and troubleshooting capability. My duties include, but are not limited to:
- Planned, constructed, and realized custom solutions for testing the configuration, functionality, and condition of hardware/software systems in support of the C-5 test bed.
-Well versed in rapidly troubleshooting and rectifying a wide assortment of operationally revealed deficiencies in wiring, installation, design, hardware, avionics, etc.
-Active member and leader in team problem solving efforts on a wide variety of technical and logistic problems.
-Designed, built, and implemented custom solutions in response to issues arising from the merging of commercial off the shelf and military hardware and software.
-Experienced in producing, reviewing, editing, and presenting new and existing technical documentation facilitating efficiency in repairs, modifications, and the addition of new capabilities to the C-5 test bed.
-Overcame data availability obstacles by seeking out applicable technical documentation, identifying incorrect data, and reverse engineering solutions to successfully realize design.
-Planned, fabricated, and installed custom interconnect cables to facilitate communication between diverse systems including software simulation equip. and military avionics hardware.
-Instructed new personnel on multiple systems and tasks pertinent to project and facilities.
-Experienced in complex acquisition tasks. Used multiple government and non-government systems to identify and order parts, thereby mitigating supply and shipment issues.
-Created and managed a system to track a constantly growing and rotating inventory of diverse hardware, while simultaneously overcoming space limitations.
