COMPUTER OPERATOR – Midnight Shift
Recognized, diagnosed and took corrective action to resolve problems as they arose for the entire University. Monitored servers, network devices and batch jobs. Identified problems, resolved issues and communicated with the owners as needed.
• Managed batch jobs that ran on Appworx, a scheduling application for the university such as: payroll, student accounts, cashiers etc.
• Monitored Netbackup Backup of systems to put information on tapes. Tapes were then sent to a secure site. In case of a disaster, the systems could be set-up at an offsite location so business could run as usual.
• Monitored 100 servers through either Big Brother or Vantage applications.
• Accurately printed 3,000+ payroll checks, 4000+ refund checks and, 8,000 + W2 forms and student bills for the university.
• Monitored switches, hubs and gateways in a fiber optic network to ensure the entire university had connectivity.
• Monitored Close circuit TV’s of the building for security purposes.
• Created, edited and updated daily reports and Technical Operations Procedures using Office 2007 Excel and Word. These reports were distributed to 200+ people, including upper management, and the Divisional VP for review.
