SUMMARY
Samantha is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee where she earned her Bachelor of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering – magna cum laude. She is a well-rounded EIT with experience across several project phases from pre-bid conferences and proposals to preliminary engineering and construction. Samantha supports various projects and teaming efforts in the area of Overhead Contact Systems (OCS) and Systems Safety and Security Certification. Samantha is familiar with a number a number of engineering programs including: AutoCADD, RISA 2D & 3D, and RAM. She has acquired valuable experience across different project stages as she works toward a Professional Engineering License. Samantha has worked in different fields of engineering and would like to pursue a career in structural engineering.
ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

Samantha works as a junior engineer on the OCS of the DART Blue Line Extension RFQ and RRP. Samantha supported the development preliminary engineering OCS sectioning diagrams and a master overlap chart to support the RFP bid process with cost estimations and scheduling.
Samantha worked as a member of the Project Management Consultant, as a Safety and Security Certification Specialist on the TEX Rail Commuter Rail line. Samantha worked to maintain consistency across and Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) compliance with all safety documents including: Project Management Plan (PMP), Safety and Security Management Plan (SSMP), Safety and Security Certification Plan (SSCP), and System Safety Program Plan (SSPP). Samantha helped prepare the SSCP in accordance with American Public Transportation Association (APTA) guidelines and supported the development of the preliminary Threat Vulnerability Assessment and Preliminary Hazard Analysis for the project. She tested the certification process for tracking open and safety certification items and commented on the Design Build contractor’s RFP to ensure the contractors’ commitment to safety is outlined in the RFP and perpetuated throughout the project.

As a member of the structural engineering team, Samantha supported the design efforts by determining structural loads; planning column, beam, and girder locations; and making red-line markups on plans for various structure types throughout different project phases. These structures included the Trulucks Restaurant in Southlake, A church in West Virginia, and various Schools. Samantha worked with Risa 2D & 3D, RAM, and AutoCADD to perform the engineering work.

Samantha was selected as one of the four senior design members; she mixed, tested, built, and stained the “Hades Lades Concrete Canoe”. Samantha designed, raced and presented the Vanderbilt Concrete Canoe at the 2006 ASCE Southeast Student Conference where the team finished 1st place in the presentation and 4th place over all.
