HIGHLIGHTS OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Bechtel Corporation (Power Engineering) Frederick, Maryland
Civil Engineer – Solar Thermal Power Plant System 2012 - Present
• Designed the preliminary stair tower layout and structure for the 700ft tall concrete tower by utilizing the
current codes and standards, STAADPro for analysis and space restraints
• Coordinated with other engineer and construction personnel to develop the site plan for the power plant,
mirror arrays, access roadway expansions and drainage plans
• Performed quantity take-offs and calculations to provide the estimating team with sound quantities
• Developed a quantity calculation book to record all site plan calculations and changes to help with the
estimate and design process
• Reviewed all site planning estimate documents and provided feedback for any changes needed
• Wrote engineering specification for general project use during the design process and construction for civil
site work at the project site and other similar project sites for the standard design
• Collaborated with other engineering disciplines to write scopes of work for subcontractors to use during the
bidding and construction phases of the project
• Reviewed bid documents from the subcontractors and suppliers for all disciplines from the civil engineering
perspective and provided comments
• Performed document and drawing reviews for civil drawings and documents and for all other disciplines
Bechtel Corporation (Power Construction) Marissa, Illinois
Field Engineer – AQCS and Balance of Plant Piping 2008 - 2012
• Managed all the material and quality of construction for over 60 Pipefitters in the Air Quality Control
Systems (AQCS) and 20 Pipefitters in the Balance of Plant (BOP) areas of a new supercritical coal fire
power plant
• Solved design errors and issues during the erection of pipe hangers and pipe in my areas of responsibility by
coordinating best fit solutions with the engineers of record for the pipe and pipe hanger designs
• Designed new pipe supports and pipe routing due to the actual construction obstacles faced verses the
designed locations and routing of the pipe and hangers due to unforeseen design issues from all
engineering disciplines
• Scheduled the sequence of pipe erection with the superintendent to follow the construction schedule of the
AQCS building and the start-up plan for the boiler and turbine
• Coordinated the use and content of the project’s pipe tracking program while assisting in cost and quantity
estimating for the entire piping scope of the project to develop unit rate of production and project
completion tracking
• Participated in system and area walkdowns to create punchlists for project completion with all engineering
disciplines on project
Americas Engineers, Inc. Evansville, Indiana
Civil Engineering Intern 2007 - 2008
• Designed small structural projects for storage areas and developed layouts for precast concrete fencing
systems
• Drafted and prepared drawings for engineering review and construction
• Contacted contractors and clients during various projects
• Learned about project management by visiting construction sites and coordinating with contractors
Kowelman Engineering, Inc. St. Louis, Missouri
Summer Civil/Survey Engineering Intern 2007
• Operated a transit and data collector while surveying and collecting data for topographic surveys, “as builts”,
and construction staking
• Researched deeds and plats from city and county offices and plotted out the property data in AutoCAD in
order to tie down the survey data with the existing property
• Documented field data gathered in a field notebook using a clear and organized format and input tha data
into the computer for further use in the survey reports
R.W. Armstrong and Associates Indianapolis, Indiana
Summer Civil Engineering Intern 2006
• Computed quantities and estimates for highway projects from the design plans and generated Excel
spreadsheets for the bidding process
• Developed skills of reading construction plans and cross sections, compiling the necessary quantities and
information needed to fulfill the assigned tasks
• Collaborated with engineers and CADD technicians to design and quantify aspects of multiple projects
• Performed county road bridge inspections with and authorized inspector for the state of Indiana and learned
valuable information about types of bridges and what to look for in deteriorating bridges
