JOB DESCRIPTION: (Administrative Assistant to the Principal)

. Takes and transcribes dictation of various types, including

correspondence, reports, notices and recommendations

. Obtains, gathers and organizes pertinent data as needed, and puts it

into usable form

. Receives and routes incoming mail, pulling items to be handled by the

Discipline Secretary/Receptionist and forwarding the rest to the

principal or subordinates

. May act as office receptionist, answering the telephone, greeting,

announcing or routing visitors

. May order and maintain supplies as needed

. Performs any bookkeeping tasks associated with the specific position

. Assists in expediting the work of the office including such matters as

shifting clerical subordinates to take care of fluctuating work loads

. May assemble and summarize information from files and documents in the

office or other available sources for the principal's use on the basis

of general instructions as to the nature of the information needed

. Keeps principal's calendar by scheduling appointments and conferences

with or without prior clearance, based on principal's preference

. Operates office equipment such as calculators, duplicators, computer

terminals, word processors, etc.

vendor statements; and performs other general bookkeeping duties as

required.

department information and to prepare spreadsheets, reports and
