WORK EXPERIENCE
UTA Micro-Scale Heat Transfer Lab, Arlington, TX
Research Assistant /Master’s Thesis
05/2012-12/2012
• Maximization Of Cooling Coil Efficiency Through A Superhydrophilic
Nanoporous Coating
o Created an air tunnel testing facility to simulate air flow
through air conditioning coils.
o Developed a super hydrophilic nanoporous coating that would
make surface more wettable.
o Used a contact angle goniometer to measure the angle between
the liquid/solid interface.
o Created graphs in Excel to compare and improve different
coating samples.
Senior Design Project
09/2011-05/2012
• Lead Engineer for Senior Design Project
o Organized team meetings and assigned tasks to other group members.
o Made sure milestones where met according to GAANT chart.
o Composed Mid-term reports, Final Report and Final Presentation.
o Worked under supervisor (Dr. Amaya) and was able to be under budget ($1000).
• Modified Flow Boiling Facility
o Redesigned flow loop using Visio by adding heating and plumbing components.
o Designed a new test section and heater enclosures made out of Lexan using ProEngineering.
o Calibrated system components ie (pressure transducers, flow meter).
o Insulated necessary plumbing to reduce heat loss to environment.
o Conducted Flow Boiling Experiments on Plain and Thermal Conductive Microporous Coating (TCMC)
Surfaces.
o Commercial heater elements were created by soldering elements to plain copper blocks and then to power
wires .
• Data Acquisition and Data Analysis of Experiments Performed
o A Labview program was created to monitor system components and controlled power supply to heater.
o Data was acquired and Excel was used to analyze the data acquired and boiling curves were created which
than were compared to existing data sets.
Fort Worth Aluminum Foundry, Fort Worth, TX
Intern 05/2009-
08/2009
• Drafting/Quality Assurance
o Used Pro-E to develop CAD models of patterns used in sand casting parts.
o Reviewed customers CAD drawings to ensure all dimensions needed were established.
o Participated in quality assurance to make sure parts were to customers’ specification and satisfaction.
