The Baghdad Company for Gas Turbines; Amman, Jordan
April 2007- March 2009
Control Engineer
Conducted the electrical and instrumentation design of Al-Qudus power
plant extension project funded by the United States sponsored Gulf
Region Division. This included instrumentation specifications using
ISA20 spec. sheets, hookup drawings complete with BOQ. Full details
were approved by the senior engineer and approved by the owner
engineers Parsons and later SBH.
Responsible for electrical and lighting power design, building
lighting analysis, lighting utility and process power design, cable
routing design, and instrumentation selection. Dialux software was
used to design the lighting for the shaded, buildings and outdoor
areas. Cable routing designs were produced using Auto CAD with BOQ.
Responsible for specification and hookup designs. Specifications for
pressure, flow, temperature, level, etc. were generated using ISA
standards. Hookups were represented using Auto CAD and Excel with
applicable ISA standards.
Using Auto CAD for designing electrical 2D drawings like one
line diagrams/ three line diagrams for auto voltage regulator.
Utilized ETAP to perform short circuit, voltage drop, load flow, motor
starting, and transient stability coordination study for low voltage
systems.
Performed lighting design and calculation using AGI lighting program.
Served as technical advisor for team of four control engineers. The
advisor office was in Amman with a team of GE TAs while site engineers
were in Baghdad Qudus Power plant. The team was aided with seven web
cameras to supervise and advise.
