Biographical Abstract
Scott Berg is the principal in the international consulting firm, R.S. Berg & Associates,
Inc. that provides a full range of consulting and auditing services to the SFI, FSC, ISO
14001 EMS and Tree Farm Certification Standards. He has over thirty five years in the
forest and paper industry working for national and regional trade associations, as the
owner of a consulting firm. He has had major responsibilities in developing and
implementing the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Standard and Certification Procedures,
as well as the American Tree Farm System Group Certification Program. He has
represented the U.S. forest and paper industry before a number of international standards
bodies including Technical Committee 207 of the International Standards Organization
(ISO), the Economic Commission for Europe, and the Pan European Forest Certification
Council (PEFCC). Scott has also represented the forest and paper industry before
congress and the federal agencies addressing the private forest policy and research issues.
R.S. Berg & Associates, Inc. has developed Template Programs addressing SFI, FSC,
PEFC, and the American Tree Farm Programs to help over 220 forest, wood and paper
product, and secondary processing organizations achieve certification. He has also
