RESEARCH:
PhD Thesis:
: Using Community Question-and-Answer Corpora for
Title
Question Answering
Date : January 2007 to April 2011
Organization : Nanyang Technological University
Abstract : The goal of the research was to propose an approach that
adapts and applies techniques from Question Answering research and related fields to
harness user-generated questions, answers and related metadata from Community
Question-and-Answer corpora. The research question that was addressed is: Given a
newly posed question not found in a CQA corpus, how can this corpus be harnessed
to return high-quality answers? Specifically, clustering techniques were investigated
to identify similar questions and a predictive framework was developed to identify
high-quality answers from a set of candidate answers.

Google Summer of code 2008 project:
: An Add-On (Client) to facilitate the existing DSpace Batch
Title
Import Procedure
Date : May 2008 to September 2008
Environment : DSpace digital repository
Organization : DSpace
Abstract : DSpace supports batch content acquisition through the
ItemImport procedure. This procedure requires digital resources to be represented in a
Submission Information Package (SIP). The lead time required for preparing this
format can be facilitated by encoding document metadata and digital resource location
in a spreadsheet. This add-on would facilitate content acquisition in DSpace
installations in both windows and LINUX environments.
