Hardware and Software/Systems Test Engineer, Motorola Inc, USA (Dec 2009 - Present)

Currently working with two different GSM teams of mobile devices of Motorola, Inc.

Environment and Tools RTA(Real Time Analyzer), Androidsdk, RF shield Box & Antenna Coupler, CMU200,Anthem, National Instrument, NI snapshot, Radiocomm, Jira, Bugzilla, RSDLite, Test Central, Test Library and other Motorola internal tools.

Carrier Branded Services (CBS) for T-mobile driven android based smart phones

Performed verification and validation of T-mobile Branded features for android based smart phones.

Understanding the defects in the phone, figuring out the appropriate new software that has the fixes updated and the compatible Boot loader that can successfully drive the updated software version over the phone.

Conceiving the release notes for every new software build and flashing the phone to the latest boot loader and software build.

Well Acquainted with the phone flashing procedure used to integrate the feature enabled software designed for variety of android based mobile device with use of set of internally developed Motorola tools. Eg. RSD lite and Radiocomm.

Perform feature testing of software designed having specific carrier branded features for mobile devices for example My favs, VVM, APC, My album for T-mobile.

Verify feature interaction and other applications for android smart phones over a range of mobile software developed.

Manual Testing based on scripted and exploratory use cases covering all real time user scenarios.

Participated in the team meeting and interacted with the development team and the team lead and understand the feature requirement and developed the test cases and test plan accordingly.

Tested the phones under different environmental conditions for instance at extremely high temperature, water ingression test, drop test and abrasion test.

Validated the features for newly releasing smart phones and finding the unique features and applications and identifying any issues in it and reporting to the developers on regular basis.

Blur Deployment Test Execution

The team performs verification and validation of Moto blur (recently launched Motorola trademark service for smart phones) features developed for variety of cellular network providers for android based smart phones.

Automate the boundary and stress test cases using the flex-auto tool and run those scripts to do the test. Use the android commands in the script to make the script more robust and flexible to use for any smart phones.

Perform testing of various soft-wares developed on Android platforms for mobile devices.

Perform Deployment Testing for GSM mobile devices for T-Mobile, AT&T.

Occasionally perform Sanity testing for GSM devices.

BOTA/OTA (Blur over the air) testing for upgrading phone remotely to new features or entire software.

Verify the accuracy and timestamp of any event happening in the phone by doing the event check-in.

Well versed with ADB commands to generate kernel panic, BP panic and system tombstone.

Use various logging tools to generate defect logs eg. ADB (android sdk enabled logging tool), RTA.

Extensively Work with windows and PC based tools to upgrade the software on phone as well as for USB transfer of Data and multimedia works from and to the phone.

Monitor defects status until they are fixed and coordinate with developers.

Compatibility Test Suites (CTS) and Stability Testing

Support Android systems and applications on Motorola handsets.

Verify the certification and compatibility under Linux OS, design, modify and maintain test scripts in Perl and initiate and maintain CTS / stability automation testing.

Write and modify Perl and Python script for translating large amount of test results (Normally 20K+) from XML format to spreadsheet and upload the results to Test Central database.

CDMA Hardware/Software Testing Team

Perform the testing of the functional aspect of the CDMA smart phones that includes checking the proximity sensor of the phone, checking the vibrator of the phone, audio loopback and many more features with the automated script using the Anthem software.

Perform the signal testing using the RF shield box and the CMU-200 to verify the signal strength, signal to noise ratio, the operating frequency of the phones and many more signaling aspects of the CDMA phones with the automated script using the Anthem software.

Perform the parametric testing using the same setup of RF shield box and CMU-200 to check for the audio loopback and the ability to receive and place calls from the phone without any issues. Also adjust the frequency range for different phones using the Antenna Coupler.

Perform the Camera test to check for the different parameters pertinent to camera placing the camera in its fixture and connecting the phone with the factory cable to the Anthem software.

Also perform the Wifi and GPS testing with the same laboratory setup. Ability to switch the smart phones to the factory mode using the Anthem software.

System Engineering Team/Software Integration Team

Doing Power Management by Current Drain and RF analysis Testing on Android based mobile devices/ smart phones designed for variety of Cellular Carriers using wing board, Debugging Regulators states and values, Registers settings in the processor and also by using Battery Tracer tools.

Managing daily logs of Current Drain Consumption using CMU 200, National Instruments and NI Snapshot tool under different network conditions as 3G, 2G network and other phone usage scenarios

In depth analysis of anonymous routing on both mobile ad-hoc networks and wireless ad-hoc networks.

Network Design for a small Company (Spring 2009)
