SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
- Performed full design control activities (specifications to test) on company upgrade
of ASR product for cystic fibrosis (80% of company revenue) to CE Mark. Created design control
documentation (requirements, design, and test) and executed test protocol. All deliverables
completed on schedule. CE Marked October 2004. Won DNA award from company for project.
Test lead on US IVD submission. Product submitted to FDA 7/2006.
- Member of team upgrading US IVD software for analyzing HIV samples. Created 650 sample files
for comprehensive testing of drug logic. Team worked seven days a week to complete
the project on time (one month). FDA granted approval one month after submission.
Entire team won DNA award from company for efforts.
- Facilitated development of GeneMapper parameters for new assay. Coordinated resources
from assay development, software development, and customer support to determine assay needs
and test data. Problem team had been working on for months was solved in two weeks.
Assay successfully delivered to three test sites 9/2005.
- Created InstallShield tutorial for team members new to building installers. Programmed actual
working final version of installer. Wrote step-by-step document. Tutorial used by virtually
the entire team; all team members who have used the tutorial have subsequently built installers
for their applications.
EXPERIENCE
CELERA / CELERA DIAGNOSTICS, Alameda, CA (2003-present)
Staff Test Engineer (2006-Present)
Senior Software Test Engineer (2004-2006)
Software Test Engineer (2003-2004)
- Received three company DNA Awards in the first two years of employment.
- Performed verification and validation activities for software used in
diagnostic assays for cystic fibrosis (2 projects), HCV (3 projects),
and HIV (2 projects). Test lead for 1+ test engineers on two of these projects.
Activities include creation of all design control documentation (specifications,
design description, system test protocol, and test summary report),
risk assessment support, installer creation, and Gold Master CD creation.
- Automated GUI testing and data generation of software for multiple projects
using SilkTest.
- Automated assessment of software analysis parameters for cystic fibrosis assay
using Matlab. Allowed quick assessment of parameter changes using over 1000 samples
as a test set.
- Automated testing of algorithm used in computing HCV titer using Matlab.
- Validated checksum tool for CD duplication verification. Created all required
validation documentation. Application used on all subsequent projects.
- Performed JUnit testing and code review on preliminary software framework
(using Spring) for new products. Created over 300 unit tests. Implemented many
recommended code changes directly.
APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS, INCORPORATED, Foster City, CA (2002-2003)
Software Test Engineer (Contractor) - High-Throughput PCR (SDS 2.1)
- Developed test suite for analysis of algorithms analyzing SNP data.
Automated test suite to generate rapid feedback for the development team.
- Wrote high-level test summaries of each SNP algorithm version for
distribution to the entire project team.
- Streamlined and augmented test suite for software controlling automated
data collection system.
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, Berkeley, CA (1995 - 1999)
Staff Research Associate II - Instructional Support, General Chemistry
- Distinguished Service Award 1997-1998.
- Provided instructional support for all general chemistry lab courses at
UC Berkeley (1400 students per semester); coordinated labs with course
instructors, assisted students, hired and trained staff of 20-25 students,
and performed experiment testing/troubleshooting.
- Supported approximately 10 instrument types and over 30 computers.
- Created original web site for honors student projects.
