Contract Programmer Analyst
Brief description of duties
This contract was a large project for the Veterans Administration as a Cobol Developer. This project was to merge two large payroll systems together for the Veterans Administration. Followed standards and procedures for the Administrations policies.
JB Hunt Transport July\2001July\2004
Programmer Analyst
Brief description of duties
Followed corporate standards and procedures regarding the Systems Development Methodology (MAD) using the online template examples. This was an in-house developed methodology with limited available tools for project measurement.
Gathered requirements, developed functional, conceptual and detail designs for projects. Developed test plans, test scripts for projects. Additionally, coded and tested programs and adhered to timelines and the installation process.
Worked in two areas for JB Hunt. The first area was operations which was in rapid response maintenance where changes were on critical time lines. This system involved the scheduling for trucks and drivers and maintenance to an image system. I performed an every other week rotation 24/7 on call.
The second area was HR/Payroll and was new development. I participated in several long-term projects updating the Independent Contractor Payroll system that interfaced with PeopleSoft HR/Payroll module. Provided program support 24/7 until changes were turned over to Rapid Response. Many changes to online as well as batch subsystems.
Functioned as a programmer for new application development and rapid response program maintenance using MVS & ZOS, Cobol II, CICS, DB2, VSAM, Easytrieve, MQ Series and JCL.
Helped trouble shoot and debug problems as they were discovered on both sides (Rapid Response and New Dev).
Provided documentation for the systems that I supported (outside the methodology) that detailed other systems for information to other programmers and myself.
Assisted other programmers in mainframe program changes and testing for various systems.
