Algebra, Trigonometry, PreCalculus, Math Tutor Available (Winston-Salem)

Hi All,

I'm a recent doctoral graduate in Biomedical Engineering and looking to give back to the community through teaching! My strengths are in math and science. I'm looking forward to tutoring in the Winston Salem area soon and currently available to provide tutoring services!

In 2007-2008, I gained valuable experience teaching biology and earth science to underprivileged inner-city high school students in Newark, New Jersey. Specifically, I collaborated with high school teachers to enhance mathematics and science skills of students by connecting my research as a graduate student to concepts learned in the classroom. I instructed high school students from Newark Public Schools on real-life applications in mathematics and science. Most importantly, I learned to construct engaging PowerPoint presentations and interactive flash animation applets to enhance the learning experience by facilitating communication and computation in the classroom.

During 2009-2011, I mentored undergraduate engineering students on senior level engineering capstone design projects while I was finishing my doctoral degree at New Jersey Institute of Technology. I learned to advise students throughout the course of the project and help them overcome roadblocks on the way towards designing a device for biomedical applications.

In Fall 2011 and Spring 2012, I was given the opportunity to teach an introductory course on materials science and biomaterial applications in tissue engineering at the university. I was responsible for the preparation of lectures, grading and mentoring of sophomore and junior level undergraduate students.

Overall, I have developed an extensive background in teaching and tutoring of students from a variety of age groups. Most importantly, I am very patient in tutoring mathematics including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and precalculus. I look forward to serving as a tutor in the Winston Salem area! I am flexible to tutor anytime on the weekends. I will likely charge $50-60/hour but willing to negotiate. Hope to hear from you all soon.
