Research Experience:

Blake P. Wood is a staff member in Pulsed Power Weapons

Physics Team of the Plasma

Physics Group (P-24) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). He has served as Team Leader of Applied Plasma

Technologies, as Principal Investigator (PI) of P-24's $14M

Plasma Source Ion Implantation (PSII) program with General

Motors, and PI of P-24's involvement in NWT and NMSM programs to

produce cathodic-arc based erbia coatings for fire resistant pits

and pit casting operations. He is currently PI of P-24's research

in vacuum arc and intense ion beam technologies, and is a member

of the physics design team for the Atlas program. Blake has over

a decade of experience in numerical modeling of plasmas and

hydrodynamic experiments using 1-D and 2-D particle-in-cell and

MHD codes. He has received an R&D 100 award and two LANL

awards for "Excellence in Achieving Industrial

Partnerships". He is a member of the American Physical

Society (APS), the American Vacuum Society (AVS), and the

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He

serves on the executive committees of the Los Alamos Nuclear and

Plasma Sciences Section of the IEEE, and the New Mexico AVS. He

has served as guest editor of the IEEE Transactions on Plasma

Science. He is a contributing author on the book "Plasma

Immersion Ion Implantation and Deposition", to be published

by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Between 1980-1987, he worked in a

variety of staff and supervisory positions in the computer and

telecommunications departments of the Chevron Information

Technology Company. Blake is a U.S. citizen and holds a DOE

"Q" clearance.
