Bellcore, Red Bank, NJ - Director 1984-1996

1.At AT&T Divestiture: Managed Department with 30 staff and an $8M annual budget, assuring U.S. telecommunications hardware performance, reliability, and manufacture from the customer view.

2.Led the development, publication and control of a dozen critical Bellcore hardware reliability

requirements documents used by the 7 newly formed RBOCs (Regional Bell Operating Companies).

1.Controlled the entire United States Telecommunications Industry's high reliability and high quality manufacturing processes and yield improvement activities as delegated by Bellcore's RBOC clients.

2.Managed and supplied hands-on technical expertise, for over 500 large scope (>1 month) design,

factory, field performance and reliability analyses, and ISO 9000 quality audits, typically prior to

RBOC final product selection and field deployment, with over 50 International and U.S. suppliers.

1.Established the Bellcore Reliability Laboratory and managed its budgets (including $12M start-up).

2.Directed trend setting laboratory generic requirements studies and hardware failure analyses.

1.Supervised Group managing quality and reliability of all key components manufactured by Western

Electric for use in its systems being deployed by AT&T's Bell Operating Companies: MOS and

bipolar integrated circuits, active and passive discrete devices, semiconductor lasers, LEDs, photo

detectors, relays, surge protectors, hybrid circuits, connectors, and bare and populated circuit boards.

1.Controlled all Western Electric component quality and reliability standards, managed field & factory

failure analyses and problem solutions among system/component manufacturers and AT&T customer.

Tyco Telecommunications, Clark, NJ - Optical Component Reliability Manager 1996 - 2002
