PROFILE

Since graduating from college, my vocation has been to live out and communicate the life changing message of Jesus Christ. This has required creative methods [which are] anchored in relational equity. After 14 years in youth ministry, I began the adventure of starting a church for people who didn t like church in Flushing, MI. Our church grew from five families to an average weekly worship attendance of over 500, during my eleven years as senior pastor. In May of 2008, I left traditional church ministry to pursue my personal mission which is helping people exchange the caricatures they have of God for a more complete portrait and to facilitate their connection with Him.

Sole proprietor of the small business. Rublev s is more than a coffee shop. It has become a gathering place where people enjoy coffee, conversation, and community. Responsibilities are all encompassing: ordering product, book keeping, hiring, training, and serving the customers.

Staff member responsible to work with a team of leaders to plan an alternative worship service using current music, video, and communication techniques to reach the postmodern mindset. Other responsibilities include: Facilitate the planning of worship services; identify, develop, and mobilize young leaders; and primary communicator at the Sunday worship gatherings.

Flushing Community Church of the Nazarene, Flushing, MI

January 1997-April 2008

Developed a vibrant church ministry from the ground up. The process included; relocating, going through assessment by New Church Specialties, identifying core values, articulation mission, gathering a launch team, opening to the public, and implementing a strategy for growth. Our congregation met in four rental locations before purchasing 20 acres and building our first facility. Other responsibilities included: Model the values of the organization, develop and deliver relevant sermon series, recruit and train leaders, build and oversee a staff comprised of paid professionals and volunteers.

June 2005-April 2008

After serving on the commission for six years I was appointed to work with the District Superintendent to oversee the church planting efforts of the district which encompasses rural and metropolitan areas including; Detroit, Flint, Pontiac, and Ann Arbor. Responsibilities included: Lead the New Start Commission to make and implement policy concerning New Start churches; interview and assess prospective new church leaders; and make recommendations to the District Advisory Board concerning New Start Churches.

PILGRIMAGES

Backpacking Pilgrimage Guide – Since the spring of 2004 I have hiked over 900 miles with 65 different men from a variety of backgrounds and occupations. On these trips I facilitate spiritual conversations and help create a space for men to lean into what God may be saying to them as husbands, fathers, sons, leaders, followers and friends.
