Senior systems administrator for over 200 IBM, Sun, Hewlett-Packard and
Linux servers, workstations, and other devices. Follows predefined
procedures and has developed his own, all HIPPA and SOX compliant.
Responsible for all system administration activities, includes some
supervisory roles.
Helped migrate UnitedHelath Group from the mainframes that hosted more
than 250 of the company's most critical business applications, processing
millions of transactions a day, and providing 46 terabytes of storage.
Bringing the mainframe operations in house has helped save UnitedHealth
approximately $247 million over five years. Was an integral part of this
effort.
Has recently developed and deployed a set of tools to automatically connect to
AIX frames and pull relevant information, statistics, addresses and serial
numbers. This data is then fed into ticketing and scripting tools, substantially
automating the build process for new logical partitions and virtual servers.
These tools, developed on his own time and of his own initiative, have been
adopted as a standard by UnitedHealth, and are in widespread use.
In addition to administration, is cooperatively responsible for security,
building machines and approved software images, training, problem
resolution, and disaster recovery planning and testing.

administrator. Expert with Tivoli network management software, is responsible for development
labs in Harrison, NY, Southbury, CT and Tampa, FL that use Tivoli tools. Has developed a
widely-used suite of network, system, and application reporting and monitoring tools. Is often
consulted by managers, technicians and other administrators about security, and network and system
management issues.

Experience and Flexibility
Built (from kit) one of the first microcomputers, and developed a Bitnet site several years before the
evolution of the Internet. Is skilled at system design, repair, maintenance, networking,
programming, administration, security, documentation, budgeting and planning, purchasing and
shipping, customer support and some management. His main strength is a thorough grasp of the
entire computer field, and the flexibility to understand and handle a wide range of challenges.
Security
In addition to the experience noted above, he has participated in the identification and tracking of a
well-known "cracker". Cooperated with law enforcement authorities in building a successful case.

Cost Containment
Built the University of New Haven's wide area network from stock parts and a free public clone of
