EDUCATION

Wright State University - Dayton, Ohio: B.A. Communications

WORK EXPERIENCE

NORTHROP GRUMMAN - COLUMBUS, OHIO. SEP 2012-FEB 2013.

Leading global security company providing innovative systems, products, and solutions in unmanned systems, cybersecurity, C4ISR, technical services, and logistics and modernization to government and commercial customers worldwide with annual revenues in excess of $28 billion.

REQUIREMENTS ANALYST -As one of six requirements analysts in our Information Systems sector, I was responsible for eliciting, analyzing, specifying, validating, and managing requirements for support software for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) of the Department of Defense. I served as both a subject matter expert and conduit between the DLA`s customer community and the Northrop Grumman software development team for the full lifecycle of the product. I analyzed, created, wrote, maintained, and updated all of the associated technical documentation including design specifications, system flowcharts and manuals, software test plans and cases, user requirements, user guides, and online help.

O'NEIL & ASSOCIATES - MIAMISBURG, OHIO. FEB 2008-SEP 2011. Documentation and product support solutions development company servicing the aerospace, consumer, industrial, and military market of industries with annual worldwide sales of over $30 million.

QUALITY CONTROL EDITOR -As one of four technical editors in our Quality Center for nearly 300 writers, I was responsible for editing paper- and electronic-based technical manuals, E-learning lessons, IETMs, and other publications for grammar, punctuation, spelling, technical accuracy, electronic integrity, and compliance with customer requirements. I personally edited and quality-checked over 43,000 pages of technical material comprising hundreds of documents, manuals, parts catalogs, and training materials for product platforms ranging from aerospace ATA-based maintenance manuals and military armored vehicles to commercial food preparation products and home appliances. These documents were then quality-checked for compliance to ISO9001, industry-specific, and/or customer-specific standards.

COMWARE INCORPORATED - CINCINNATI, OHIO. AUG 1994-OCT 1998. Instructional training and performance enhancement development company servicing a broad market of industries with worldwide sales of over $30 million.

WRITER/INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN SPECIALIST - Served as the lead subject matter expert for all telecommunications projects, where I worked as a UI designer creating courseware summaries and translating UI wireframes for Information Design Plans delivered to the client. Utilizing an Agile-like approach (before Agile existed), I was part of a small, highly successful team that researched, developed, illustrated, and edited story cards and coded instructional courseware for over twenty separate telecommunications projects comprising nearly 180 hours of computer- and web-based training. Because our team was very lean (one programmer, one graphic artist, and one UX designer), my team used a Kanban-like approach to develop a reusable generic Icon Author software engine for implementation of computer-based training story cards. Although I am not officially a graphic artist, a sizeable percentage of my -place-holder- illustrations were included as final art in the customer`s final product delivery.

CINCINNATI BELL INFORMATION SYSTEMS (CBIS) - CINCINNATI, OHIO. JAN 1989-APR 1994.

Software development company servicing the telecommunication industry with worldwide sales of over $350 million.

TECHNICAL WRITER/EDITOR - Lead Technical Writer for major software application upgrading and replacing ALL of Japan`s land-based telephone systems for NTT, Inc. I served as project leader for 3 of 11 major application subsystems and was responsible for Daily Stand-Up meetings with software developers and SMEs (subject matter experts) to disseminate changing requirements documentation and development information to a SCRUM-like project management team as well as other team writers. I personally developed and delivered 11 major user manuals (over 4,500 pages) in one year involving developing, reviewing, editing, and producing over 27 draft documents before final delivery. Documents included both paper-based and online training. Additionally, I developed a UNIX program for extracting and formatting raw data for application guides reducing development time by 92%.

NCR CORPORATION - DAYTON, OHIO. APR 1986-JAN 1989.

Hardware and software development company servicing a wide range of government, financial, and retail applications with worldwide sales of over $6 billion.

TECHNICAL PUBLICATIONS SPECIALIST - As a technical writer, I was responsible for designing and developing paper-based documentation for retail store applications. On one project, I reorganized, redesigned, and rewrote a documentation set reducing the page count by over 50% without the loss of any pertinent information. As a UI designer, I designed a new user interface and menu system prototype to be used for acceptance testing of a new database system. This involved working both with software developers and end-users to create the most efficient and usable interface design. I then worked in a technical writer capacity to design the overall document set and to write how the system would be used to accomplish end-user tasks and goals.
