EDUCATION

Ph.D., Computer Science, University of California, Davis, June 2008.

Bachelor of Engineering, Engineering Systems, University of Tsukuba, Japan, March 2003.

COMPUTER SKILLS

C++, Java, FORTRAN, LISP, Scheme, Prolog, Perl, Ruby, Shading languages (GLSL, Cg, Assembly), Matlab, Mathematica, Flex, Linux/Windows/Mac Operation Systems

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Graduate Researcher, UC Davis (Apr 2004- June 2008)

Developing graphical user interfaces and rendering methods for visualizing time-varying, multivariate scientific 3D simulation data. Based on scientists need, appropriate visualization is designed for each aspect of the simulation. Such visualizations are tightly linked together through intuitive interaction methods driven by commodity graphics hardware. Software development has been conducted as a team effort by mentoring undergraduates.

Software Engineer Intern, Siemens Corporate Research (SCR) (Jun-Sep 2007)

Developed line drawing algorithm for volume data and applied it to generate a clear visualization of multi-modal brain dataset. The algorithm is also applied to show the segmentation uncertainty by mapping the line width to uncertainty. Worked with other interns who were responsible for preparing multi-modal datasets.

Software Engineer Intern, National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) (Jul-Aug 2004)

Implemented a high-quality and interactive volume rendering engine for stretched grids by utilizing an advanced features of a graphics hardware. The engine is now a part of Open Source data analysis package, VAPoR.

Teaching Assistant, UC Davis (Sep 2003 - Mar 2004)

Taught two undergraduate classes: "Data Structure and Algorithm" and "Computer Graphics".
