Sarath Sivasankaran Nair
A self-motivated Electronics and Software Engineer specialized in System-on-Chip design with experience in the full design cycle. A quick learner and a good motivator with the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
Academic Qualifications: MSc – System Level Integration, Institute for System Level Integration (ISLI),University of Edinburgh, UK, 2008-2009:
This course offered a well structured program of study and addressed the most recent developments, issues and software/hardware information in the field of System on chip. One of the optional modules I chose for this course included Sensor Networks which introduced me to a new area of interest within me and gave me the drive to select a project based on the same and complete it to satisfaction and eventually be among the top three students in the university.
B.Tech – Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Amrita University, Coimbatore, India, 2004-2008:
Secured 67% overall.
Secondary education, CBSE board, Abu Dhabi Indian School, Abu Dhabi, UAE:
2003 – 2004, Std XII – 73%
2001-2002, Std X – 75%

Experience with cache design using the cache model generator CACTI and the cache simulator DINERO IV.Experience using the Cadence Virtuoso tool for designing VLSI circuits.Experience in VLSI design implementation using Verilog, RTL synthesis, gate level simulation and Static Timing Analysis (STA) using the Cadence Build Gates tool. Experience in effective modeling of a system and its partitioning into hardware and software using UML and SpecC language respectively.Multithread implementation using the Real time executive for multiprocessor systems (RTEMS) operating system and the QEMU emulator.Experience creating wireless sensor networks with Tmote Sky using TinyOS and nesC programming language. Networking experience in C language, using the TCP/IP and UDP protocols.Experience with the GNU tool chain: gcc, gdb and make.Knowledge on the Open Verification Methodology and experience in formal verificationExperience in hardware verification using ‘e’ including test-bench automation using Cadence’s Specman Elite tool.Experince in assembly level programming on various targets including PIC16F series and the Zilog Zatara series microcontrollers.Experience with ORCAD’s PSPICE tool for analog and mixed signal circuit simulation and testing.
Project Experience:
MSc: As a part of an industrial project for System Level Integration Ltd., I evaluated Texas Instrument’s radio solutions for the sub-1GHz frequency range and developed embedded software using the IAR Embedded Workbench IDE and the Code Composer Essentials (CCE) IDE, for a universal wireless packet sniffer which was programmed on the eZ430-RF2500 wireless target board. This packet sniffer scans all frequency channels and demodulation formats to check for any nodes in the network and captures traffic from that node upon user request. It also shows the method to detect packets using different wireless protocols (SimpliciTI and IEEE 802.15.4 protocols were implemented).
B.Tech:Implemented a Microcontroller based Programmable DC Drive that controlled the speed and direction of a DC motor, using a full bridge MOSFET based chopper as the power controller and the PIC16F877A microcontroller as the overall control of the circuit. A driver circuit was also implemented to interface the hardware and software modules. Programming was done in C and assembly level language. MPLAB IDE and MATLAB were used for this project.Implemented an AC/DC Voltage Measurement System using PIC16F877A microcontroller. Implemented a Long Range Audio Signal Sensing using basic Analog Electronics concepts.
Achievements:Developed a Universal packet sniffer with the desired objectives giving a significant value to this research area.Contributed towards the success of developing a DC drive which is now being used as a lab experiment for the present students at Amrita University.President of the Official Music Club RAGASUDHA, and member of the Student Body ASSOCIATION OF ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC ENGINEERS (AEEE) at Amrita University under which numerous events were organized which enabled me to improve on my organizational skills.Led a team of over 50 members to successfully communicate, organize and present various campus events for an audience of over 600 personnel including delegates from various international organizations thereby proving my leadership skills. Secured a diploma in the language of French conducted by the French embassy.Languages known: English, Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi
