Duties included evaluating assembly operations, developed and maintained SOPs and SWIs, prepared capital expenditure justification, conduct process and cost analysis, time studies, help establish work measurement programs and analyze data for the development of standards and labor utilization. Helped corporate production management team develop work measurement and continuous improvement program. Introduced work measurement and continuous improvement program in home facility and then traveled to all other facilities to train in implementation of same programs. Increased production from 300 assemblies to 700 and 800 assemblies per day. Increased production in another department with 4 employees daily was 12 assemblies, revamped to 60 assemblies per day with 8 employees.

Project Manager R&D and Manufacturing / Industrial Engineer

As the Project Manager for the Development Department directed all phases of a new project for a medical equipment manufacturer.

The objective to produce (a new surgical table)

In compliance with FDA guidelines and budgetary constraints set forth by corporate guidelines. Worked with Sales Team, Design Development team, Current Products Group, Purchasing and Production. Duties were to manage the development, manufacturing and testing required to manufacture the finished product and accessories for our market. Steris Corporation is an ISO 9002 Certified Operation.

Processes utilized that interfaced with daily to produce our product lines include sheet metal fabrication, metal stamping and forming, MIG and TIG welding, Manual and CNC Lathes, CNC Mills, CNC Laser, Electrostatic powder coating, wet electrostatic painting, assembly of electrical and mechanical devices.

Since completing the work on my project my contract was extended and I have been working with the Current Products Group as a Manufacturing / Industrial Engineer.

Tasks included but were not limited to Product Structure Breakdown and the Generation of travelers and process sheets using AS400 system, reviewing and recommending process improvements, performing time studies, work flow analysis, assembly line layout and setup, line balancing, ergonomic studies, work cell development. Assisted with implementation of Lean Practices utilizing Toyota Production Theory, Kaizen events, 5S Training. Reason Left: Contract Ended.

Manufacturing Engineer

Provided Manufacturing support for an Aerospace company. Duties included evaluating machining, finishing and assembly operations, developed product structure and sequence of operations required for items to be manufactured using frozen planning, prepared capital expenditure justification and ROI, process and cost analysis, time studies, handled OSHA and plant safety related items. Worked the Team Members toward the installation of Lean Manufacturing techniques. This company anticipated being awarded contracts with several major Aerospace companies. When this did not come to fruition my position was eliminated due to lack of work.

10/1998 to 12/1999 GA Pacific Pump Co.

Directed all activities of a pump manufacturing operation. Responsibilities included overseeing operations including human resources, purchasing scheduling, quality, engineering, product design, CNC and manual machining, Metal Stamping, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Assembly, Customer Service and Shipping. The Company was bought out and my position was filled by someone from the new corporation.

Owned and operated a Machine shop involved in Manual CNC Machining, Tool & Die making and repair, mold making and repair, metal stamping and the manufacturer of custom built machinery. Sold business and moved back to hometown Swainsboro, GA.

I effectively reduced the cost of manufacturing produce annually. Left because company relocated plant to North Carolina and I elected to stay in the Atlanta area.
