There are no ugly colors,
just unfortunate combinations - Unknown Author
Painting is
cathartic.
I
enjoy the physical process of applying the paint and
watching the colors spread on the surface, mix with
the color below adding depth, texture, value, and
hue, I love overlapping colors and intense values. I
build up layers of paint so that the previous colors
influence current color, through layers and layers
of paint every time improving and changing the
surface.
Who am I as a
painter?
I don t know, I feel
like an onion I am forever peeling away layers.
I
can t turn off my visual approach to life.
Currently
my areas of interest are animals (Animal Portraits)
and the challenge of combining abstract objects
whose forms are dissimilar (Sticks & Stones).
Realism
and abstraction, I am conscious of the graphic
quality of a painting from the beginning.
I let the shapes and
images, edges and spaces guide my composition and
color.
