Responsible for district s FreeBSD, Linux (Ubuntu), and Mac OS X servers for 3,000+ users (staff and

students) and all of their services. Interesting challenges here, and pretty much lived on-call.

Completely rebuilt the district s server infrastructure, using Linux, FreeBSD, and Mac OS X (from

outdated systems, misconfigured systems)

Implemented network monitoring system (Nagios/Icinga, Munin)

Implemented system configuration management (Puppet)

Migrated from Active Directory and Open Directory (OpenLDAP)

Developed end-user web tools (PHP) for account migration and password management

Migrated district s DNS and DHCP to ISC s BIND and DHCPD with no disruption in service,

improving performance, management, and reliability

Redesigned mail services by implementing a mail gateway and redundant SMTP services

Wrote advanced BASH program to handle student home directory backups that are accessible
