Manage a $80,000 fund, from which a $10,000 grant is given to a local
organization every year
Oversee an organization of 20 students to give 200 hours of direct service each
year to the chosen organization
Market the organization to the administration, alumni, students, and the
community to keep continued support for the organization
Aid in the professional development of all members by the creation of training
programs, and the planning and attending of national conferences and meetings
with professionals
Plan avenues to bring venture philanthropy and associated ideas to the campus
community at large through lectures, internships, and other programming
Help choose an organization every year for funding based on a careful analysis of
maximizing capacity building and impact, overseeing a formal proposal and
interview process of 14 prospective organizations
In Spring 2012, VPC received the Denison University President Award for
Excellence in Service was a finalist for the Sillerman Prize for Innovations in
Philanthropy.

Managed a budget of $300 used to buy board games for our Game Nights, and
then created a new budget of $200 to be applied for next year.
Helped advertise and run a nation-wide gaming convention, DenCon 2012, that
had over 70 attendees.
Scheduled and ran a campus-wide gaming convention, B.A.D. O.G.R.E. 2012.
Designed and facilitated a number of Role Playing Games over two years, totaling
56 hours of gameplay.
Service Chair of the Alpha Eta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi Spring 2012
Webmaster of the Alpha Eta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi Fall 2012 - Ongoing
Coordinate service events for 62 brothers and pledges, creating a total of four
events, and generating a total of 50 service hours.
Senator of the DCGA Campus Affairs Council Spring 2012 - Ongoing
Working within a group of three to create, distribute, and analyze a survey to all
professors on campus to measure their involvement on campus and assess barriers
to increased involvement, and then reported those results to the campus.
Working with DCGA Senators and Administrators to investigate and assess
administration - student communication on campus.

Treasurer of Secular Student Alliance Fall 2010 - Ongoing
Applied, received, and managed a budget of $1000 a year for two years, using it
to bring a total of two speakers to campus, with attendance of 40 people at each
event, then created a new budget of $900 to be used for next year.
Moderated weekly discussion meetings about philosophical topics, attended by 10
- 20 people
Lugar Program Intern for Senator Lugar s Office Summer 2012
Interned with Senator Richard G. Lugar s office for three weeks, giving tours of
the Capitol and assisting in archiving and mail sorting projects.
Interned with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for one week, assisting in
research on the Law of the Sea Treaty and archiving projects.
Political Science Department Assistant Spring 2012 - Ongoing
Paid tutor position to tutor Political Science students five hours a week in using
STATA, and help them with their research papers.
Assisted Dr. Djupe with cataloging incoming submissions to the Religion and
Politics journal.
Treasurer of Badminton Club Fall 2010 - Spring 2012
Applied for, received, and managed a budget of $500 to buy replacement
equipment for the club and fund tournaments, then created a new budget of $200
to buy more equipment and fund another tournament.
Treasurer of Green Team Fall 2010 - Fall 2011
Applied for, received, and managed a budget of $1800 to fund events intended to
raise awareness about various environmental issues on campus, as well as fund
replacement recycling bins for the campus dorms
Designed an advertising campaign for the Fall 2010 Water Wars Competition, an
annual competition where dorms compete against each other to reduce water
usage.
Denison Admissions Overnight Host Fall 2010 Fall 2011
Hosted five different perspective and admitted students at different times
throughout the year, giving them a tour of the campus and answering questions
about Denison.

V.O. Key Award in Political Science (Fall 2010)
The V.O. Key Award, started in Fall 2001, is presented every semester to a
student in recognition of outstanding performance in the quantitative analysis of
political phenomena; redefining the parameters of contemporary social science;
and statistical reasoning and interpretation above and beyond the call of duty.
First and only First-Year Student in Denison s history to win the award

Moot Court Ohio Regionals 3-1 Top 16 Record (Fall 2010)
Moot Court is a regional competition of over 50 teams that involves simulated
Supreme Court argument.
Chatterbox Challenge - Babbage - 11th place Bot (2011)
Chatterbox Challenge - Ganymede - 7th place Bot (2007)
The Chatterbox Challenge is a global, one-month long, annual contest for
chatbots, which are computer programs designed to simulate human conversation.
Entrants range from young children to PhDs in computer science.
The 2007 contest featured 44 bots and the 2011 contest featured 43 bots.
