Over the past twenty years, I have had the pleasure of personally working with Gottfried
Schmidtke several times in my career and most recently here at RLF. His creativity and
design skills are exemplary. He has consistently set the bar higher in regards to quality
and was an example to all who worked with him.
His ability to utilize merging technologies as a design tool is phenomenal. His talents as
an artist are skillfully applied in using computer software to both design and visualize
the environments that he is creating. His ability to both hand sketch and utilize this
technology has made him an effective communicator with clients and the project team he
is working with.
As lead designer on the Irwin Community Hospital he helped create what will be the first
net-zero, carbon-neutral hospital in the country. It was nationally recognized by the Corp
of Engineers in 2012 with a honor award for conceptual design demonstrating world-
class design for performance and innovation.
Gottfried s knowledge of the industry and profession along with his eye for beauty has
led to the creation of beautiful places. Gottfried would be an asset to any organization he
is a part of and has my highest recommendation.
