Job History / Details:

Montford C. Coon, Sr. Home 440-***-****

Madison, Ohio 44057 *******@**********.***

I am a cancer survivor seeking employment. I have a wide range of skills, and my speech and smelling disabilities should not stop me from being a productive employee for your firm. I would prefer a full-time job because I need to supplement my Social Security income.

1. I cannot orally communicate by telephone, and many times people do not understand my synthetic voice. However, I do communicate via the written word, on paper or computer.

2. I lost 85% of my sense of smell due to the cancer treatments, namely radiation.

In 1992, I was part of the company's downsizing adventure and required to submit an unplanned retirement from my mechanical engineering profession of 27 years. The group that was being laid-off was notified that their pensions had also been slashed to one tenth of the schedule rates.

After months of job searching in the field of engineering failed, I kept busy by job searching and doing small jobs like operating a plastic injection molding machine, setting up and operating a 10 foot press-break, and other smaller machine tools, at last I decided to change my field of employment.

I entered the Brentley Institute, Inc., Of Cleveland, Ohio in their Private Security Training Course, earning an Ohio Peace Officer's Training Council certificate from the State of Ohio in 1995. With this certificate, I returned to work as a Security Officer in May of 1995 working my way through the ranks to become a Security Manager for a major Corporation in Wickliffe, Ohio in 1997 until my problem with cancer in 2007. I continued working, when, not on medical leave, until 2010 when I had the laryngectomy surgery and lost my larynx.

Security service relies on having all five senses; therefore, this area of employment is no longer available to me as on the floor, however surveillance has many behind the scene actives. If one cannot SMELL smoke and yell FIRE or STOP during an incident they are more of a liability than an assets for the team.

I am Ordained Minister of twenty years. After the cancer surgery in 2010 I retired from being active. This field of work is no longer a path of work for me, because as much as we think we want a silent minister, no one needs one. Secondly, I have never earned a dime for my ministry.

o Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, Excel, and many other computer programs.

o Nearly 45 years of board experience rendering ink drawings of detailed parts, plant layouts, electrical schematics, hydraulic designs and schematics, and machine design drawings.

Some of the titles listed below, that I have held during my engineering tenure are recorded below exhibiting some of the responsible positions I've held in industry.

Plant Engineering,12-years

Manufacturing Engineer,3-plus years

Senior Mechanical Engineer, 2-years

Chief Mechanical Engineer, 10-years

Security Manager, 15 plus years

Other notable projects I was involved in the industry were: I was one of only ten engineers in the U.S. that was fortunate to usher in the newly designed slide gates refractories to for our steel mill's ladles, and continuous casting tundishes in the 80's establishing the cutting edge of technology for manufacturing clean steel in our country: designed refractory plant equipment: manufacturing engineer for an automotive parts manufacturer (JIT) business: designed castings for foundries. Serviced and repaired analytic scales and optical instruments used in laboratories and doctor's offices.

I am a veteran of the Korean War era, Jan 1953 to Mar 1958; three years in Germany driving M-47 Tanks and two years at Fort Knox, Kentucky as a Military policeman.

How far will I travel for a job

Within fifty mile radius of my home

Prefer full time position. I will consider any Part Time job as long as it leads to a full-time position.

I do not need a benefit package i.e. my insurance is covered by the VA and my wife's needs are met by Medicare and a supplemental insurance plan.

Expected salary Depends on the position its hours and distance from my home.

Physical limitations physically cannot do heavy lifting for long periods or do hard labor.

There are literally thousands of skilled jobs I can do without a voice, such as being an assembler, inspector, short order cook, mailperson, drive a van delivering small packages, work in a lab atmosphere as a technician, operated machine tools. I have years of experience repairing, servicing and installing equipment in customers facilities with full knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. I've also functioned as a scheduler and timekeeper for plant operations and construction projects.

I have owned my own general contracting company, L & M Enterprises of Columbus, Ohio, from 1960 to 1966 contracting home repairs while attending college. I still do some small projects in home plumbing repairs and home electrical system repairs and/or modifications, and I am a firm woodworker, making small carpentry repairs and building custom wood items. I have my own Hand tools for all trades.

Thanks for considering me for employment with your company

Montford C. Coon, Sr.
