EXPERIENCE: 12/2005-10/2011 Millipore Corporation Billerica, Massachusetts

Industry: Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences

Field Service Engineer (FSE)

Installed, Repaired/Managed Repairs and completed Preventive Maintenance and Operational Checks on all of the company`s water purification systems which included Large building wide systems and local lab settings, with a focus mostly in the lab area. I covered the Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs, but also traveled as needed to other parts of the tri-state area with overnight stays as needed. Within my first year at Millipore I was responsible for managing a $950,000 account with 450+ separate systems installed at Merck WestPoint PA. My background and experience is within a wide range of electronics but I gained a lot of experience in water chemistry and several purification methods, such as Reverse Osmosis (RO), Electronic Deionization (EDI), Particulate filtering as well as contaminate specific filtering. This includes all of the control systems and monitoring devices within our purification systems as well as peripheral devices from other OEMs. Worked on and maintained Large building wide, large volume custom systems as well, such as the system recently installed in the new building at Temple University. Completed Validation Services for most of the Millipore Systems.

Researched and ordered required parts to complete jobs, managed repairs from outside services, and all other support functions.

Update and maintain the inventory database (Safari) using the company proprietary asset management software.

Built and maintained a very good rapport with all of the customers whose systems I was responsible for, always taking the time to take care of any customer questions or concerns, including some re-training if needed.

Worked within the entire hospital including the ICU/CCU, STU, ER, OR, PT, GI, ACP, PCU, SPD/CSD, NICU, L&D, Maternity, Radiology, Lab, patient rooms.

Researched and ordered required parts to complete jobs, managed repairs from outside services, and all other support functions.

Updated and maintained the inventory database and ISIS Pro, keeping accurate and complete installation, maintenance, and repair histories for all equipment that I managed.

Wrote a Work-Flow procedure for the department and successfully influenced its general incorporation, subsequently influencing more efficient use of ISIS Pro (our asset management software) into the daily routine among coworkers.

Built and maintained a very good rapport with each of the separate department managers and/or leaders whose systems I was responsible for, always taking the time to answer any and all questions or concerns.

Accomplishments

Successfully provided all of the service and preventative maintenance requirements of a $950,000 service contract for a major pharmaceutical company with 450 system installations, with a $90,000/yr open repair budget.

Analyzed the precise cause, then wrote a subroutine in assembly language that eliminated an audible "tick"; due to a slow recovery time after signal reacquisition of the Music Choice satellite transmission signal in over 300 satellite receivers in cable companies across the country, saving the company over $1,000,000 in time and equipment, while the consensus among the product engineers was a hardware redesign, and satellite receiver replacement.

Analyzed the precise cause, then made a small circuit design change within a single Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) which repaired an audible "tick"; due to mistiming of a shared, multiplexed data stream at the Music Choice satellite up-link, saving an unknown dollar amount, but ensuring the continued use of that data path, while the engineering answer and consensus at the time was the elimination of that specific data path.
