Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

• Preaching, teaching, writing, and discipling church leaders

Weaknesses

• Though highly organized, I do not enjoy nor am I strongly gifted in administration.

• Biblical counseling is another where I do not excel. Yes, I have done a lot of biblical counseling in the past and imagine I will continue to do so in the future, but it is not my passion, nor do I consider it one of my strengths. I do feel it is a vital ministry for any local church however.

• I enjoy music and singing, but have no musical skills or a desire to lead music (though on rare occasions I have done so).

Past and Present Hobbies

• Spending time with my wife, reading, gardening, woodworking, and in the past I have enjoyed fly fishing; hunting.

Marriage

• I have been happily married to Lisa for 28 years as of August 2012. Lisa is truly my best friend, companion, lover, helper, counselor, gift, and favor from the Lord. I would rather spend time with my wife than anyone else.

Lisa (Wife)

• Lisa is truly a Proverbs 31 and Titus 2:3-5 woman. Lisa graduated from Boise State University as an English teacher. We met and were married while both serving in Campus Crusade for Christ at Boise State University. After graduating from college Lisa taught seventh grade English in the public schools until our first child was born. Lisa has been a stay at home mom ever since. Lisa enjoys writing and teaching inductive Bible studies. She is a published author and conference speaker. Lisa has also served in a variety of ministries in the local church e.g., women’s ministry leader, women’s Bible study leader, women’s discipleship, nursery worker, potluck organizer, greeter, etc. Lisa loves the local church, loves people, and loves seeing women come to Christ and grow in their knowledge and application of the Word of God. It is Lisa’s desire to continue writing inductive Bible studies, teaching women, speak at conferences, and write more books.

Children

• Leah (22 years old) is a communications major at The Master's College. Leah knows and loves the Lord and faithfully serves in the local church (Calvary Bible Church of Burbank). Leah has had a constant headache for 5 years, which at times has hospitalized her, yet by God’s grace she continues to function with a happy heart and no medications. Her trials have solidified her faith. Leah is working as a secretary in the Biblical Counseling Department at The Master's College.

• Nathan (20 years old) has been a faithful son and hardworking servant. We were surprised last October (2011) when Nathan told us he had come to Christ after listening to a student testimony at The Master's College. His life transformation has been amazing. After coming to Christ Nate switched majors from business finance to Bible at The Master's College. This summer Nathan is on a 10 week missions trip to India.

• Mark (18 years old) is a music major at The Master's College (Fall 2012). Mark loves playing the organ and piano and has used those skills in the context of the local church. Mark has a strong walk with the Lord and has a kind and compassionate nature. He is still uncertain as to the direction his life will take after college.
