I graduated in 1985 from a small engineering school as an 3rd Assistant engineer and now have been sailing as both 1st and chief Engineer for the past 12 years. I have experience in both diesel and steam propulsion, and power plants,power generating systems,my job consist of setting work schedules, documenting the maintenance of shipboard equipment from radars, the the ship's sewage plant. I have used Maximo,NS5,and various PM and purchasing programs, along with excel, and windows programs. Safety and budgets have been 2 areas in which I have dealt with on a daily basis Use of shop tools including lathes, welding,drill presses and plasma torches is a daily occurance aboard most merchant ships, as well as fabricating parts and tools Objectives I would like to use the skills I have acquired during my 25 years of sea time. These skills include the maintenance, repair, purchasing of equipment required to keep large sea going vessels on schedule, in sometime adverse environments. A lot of my work experience involve the planning and assigning of work duties for 6-8 people, trouble shooting and making sure all the required documents were in order Documentation has become a job in its self with more and more regulatory bodies getting a say in the daily operation of Merchant ships .
