PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
2011: Founder, owner of Act Three Studio in Durango Colorado
****-*******: Director, co-founder, and educational director of Merely Players.
1989-2011: Theatre director and teacher at Durango High School. Sponsor of one of the largest Thespian troupes in the state, presenting 3 mainstage and 2 showcase productions annually. Taught theatre and English in London as part of DHS Abroad.
1998-present: Workshop presenter for educational theatre, including presentations at the State Conferences for Gifted and Talented Educators.
1999-2000: Fulbright Recipient. Taught Theatre in Wath-upon-Dearne, England
1986: Member of the Little Theatre of the Rockies acting company in Greeley, Colorado
1979-1994: Directed and served as a board member for local community theatre troupes in Durango.
EDUCATION AND ACADEMIC HONORS:
1988-89: Master's degree in theatre at Florida State University while on sabbatical from School District 9-R in Durango. During this time, became actively involved in Tallahassee Little Theatre as a lighting technician and stage manager. Served as publicist for FSU's Lab Theatre. Taught theatre history at FSU.
1982: Graduated Summa Cum Laude with Bachelor's Degree in English from Fort Lewis College. GPA: 3.93 Class Rank: 5/401. Awarded the Sandy Heizer scholarship for outstanding English major.
PROFESSIONAL HONORS:
2012: City of Durango: “Sweetheart of the Arts” – a civic award to a woman who has made a difference and exemplified excellence in the arts in Durango
2011 Colorado State Thespian Hall of Fame Inductee
2011: BP Excellence in Teaching Award
2008: Distinguished Alumnus Award from Fort Lewis College
2006: "Get it With Kids" Award - Durango High School
2003: Durango School District 9-R's Secondary Educator of the Year
2003: Durango High School "Most Inspirational Teacher"
2002: Colorado Recycles Non-Profit Project of the Year Award for writing and creating a show.
1999-2000: Fulbright Recipient. Taught Drama at Wath Comprehensive School in Wath-upon-Dearne, England through the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program.
2002, 1998, 1994, 1985: Durango High School Teacher of the Year.
1997: Durango Foundation for Educational Excellence's Pride in Education award, which is awarded to one employee in the district annually.
1995 - Recipient of the Educational Theatre Association's Outstanding School Award - Durango High School was one of four schools in the nation cited for having an exemplary theatre program
1992: Colorado Theatre Educator of the Year – Alliance for Colorado Theatre
