AFI serves a wide variety of industrial, commercial and construction clients with a strong emphasis in cement plants, aggregate and coal handling, power generation, structural steel and general in-plant maintenance. Managing the engineering department for AFI included:

Estimating, design and detailing of projects.

Coordinate and manage all aspects of projects including field measurement, correspondence with customers, and coordination with installation crews.

Engineering support for a full line fabrication and machine shop dealing with ferrous and non-ferrous steels, exotic alloys, high temperature alloys, aluminum, and plastics.

Application of wear resistant materials such as abrasion resisting (AR) plate, chrome carbide overlay plate, high chrome white iron, hard facing alloys and ceramics.

Design of screw conveyors, belt conveyors and components.

Design of structural steel components and architectural metals including load calculations.

Design, specification and technical assistance for all shop processing and welding requirements.

Design and application of vibratory conveyors, feeders and bin dischargers, screw conveyors, volumetric screw feeders, belt feeders and belt conveyors. Details and specifications included steel fabrication, motors, power transmission components, springs, pneumatic and hydraulic components, motor starters, variable frequency drives, proximity switches and wiring diagrams. Performed all required load, stress, center of gravity and natural frequency calculations for equipment design.

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

Maintenance and repair of all plant equipment. My experience at Borden Chemical has since proven to be extremely valuable designing more dependable and maintenance friendly equipment.

I designed and detailed vibratory material handling equipment. Worked with design engineer to upgrade vibrating bin discharger design and complete full set of standards drawings including assemblies and details.
