Directs the firm's engineering assignments, which specialize
in the design of roadway and transportation improvement projects,
drainage improvement projects, and water and sewer improvement
projects. These assignments include transportation systems
planning, environmental studies, schematic development, roadway
design, bridge design, traffic engineering studies, traffic
operations design, hydraulic design and analysis, scour studies,
and foundation studies for new alignment, added capacity,
reconstruction, bridge replacement, and rehabilitation projects
for highways and freeways.

Assistant Area Engineer
Mr. Thrailkill has over 18 years of experience with TxDOT
in the design, construction, and maintenance of highways and
bridges, with 14 years of experience as Assistant Area Engineer
for the Liberty Area office. During this time he provided
project management for the design and construction of projects
in Liberty and Chambers Counties. This experience includes
all phases of project development from preliminary engineering
through construction: Preparation of environmental documents
for nationwide, individual permits, and environmental assessments;
route studies and schematic design; pavement design; bridge
layouts; roadway design; traffic engineering studies; signing
and pavement marking; hydrologic studies; hydraulic design;
roadway construction management and inspection; and transportation
foundation studies. Projects included:
Project Manager for completing schematics, environmental
assessments (FONSI), public meetings and preliminary drainage
studies. IH-10 (1987), US 59 (1991), US 90 (1993), SH 105
(1995), FM 1409 (1997), FM 787 (1999), and FM 365 (2002).
Project Manager for preparing PS&E for reconstructing
and upgrading facilities to current standards. Work included
obtaining permits, pavement designs, bridge layout sheets,
hydrologic and hydraulic design, bridge scour analysis,
traffic control plans, construction sequences, utility adjustments,
signing and pavement markings. FM 1942 (1990), US 90 (1992),
SH 146 (1997), IH-10 (1997), FM 1409 (1997), US 90 (1998),
SH 146 (1999), FM 365 (2002), and US 69 (2003).

projects. Work included replacing and widening approaches,
pavement design, permitting, bridge layouts, hydrologic
and hydraulic studies, scour analysis, traffic control plans,
construction sequences, signing and pavement markings. IH-10
at Old and Lost Rivers (1990), SH 146 at UPRR Overpass (1992),
US 59 at East Fork San Jacinto River (1997), and over 12
off-system bridges at various locations in Chambers, Liberty,
and Fisher Counties.
