modernized the Citys fleet management system by implementing a client-server based software package and integrated it with all other systems such as the fuel subsystem and the SAP GL. I also helped the CIty to save thousand of dollars a year in license fees by building a web site that hosts reports and queries against the newly installed fleet management system. As a result, hundred of users were able to query about vehicles for maintenance and repair records via the intranet without going through expensive training and logon. I was also heavily involved in third-party software vendor engagement, user requirement study and project planning. I also helped train IT staff members by ways of mentoring and systems documentation. To deliver these functions, I used the following technologies : Core Java, JSP, Servlet, Swing, JDBC, JMS, multi-thread and socket programming, OOD/OOA, XML/XSLT, VB, Access, Unix scripting, Oracle data modeling, database triggers and PL/SQL.

Nortel Canada Ltd. (Senior Programmer Analyst & Project Leader)

Worked as the systems expert in consolidating the Canadian and the U.S. Accounts Payable systems which entails the integration of two independent Geac E-Series A/P applications with differing interfaces and detailed requirements. Since this was based on RAD (Rapid Application Development) technology, I had a great deal of user interactions throughout the entire life cycle of the project, from feasibility to acceptance testing. To carry out the project leading role, I spent 30% of the time in Nashville, Tennesee to meet with the users. The technical work consisted of Oracle PRO*C, SQL*plus, shell scripts, awk, C and Easytrieve+.

I was also responsible in developing a Unix-based paging system with the clients Accounts Receivable application in the area of CICS startup notification.

Feb 95 - Aug 95

Nortel Canada Ltd. (Senior Programmer Analyst)

Developed a data warehouse application from the ground up using a very wide set of tools. Under an extremely tight deadline, I was able to integrate data from applications on 3 different platforms : HP3000, IBM/MVS and HP/UX. As a result, real-time queries can now be submitted against an Oracle data warehouse made up of raw data originated from a Geac E-Series A/P and an in-house developed Invoice-Matching application. Besides the usual MVS tools such as Easytrieve+, JCL, VSAM and Cobol, SQL*loader, PL/SQL, PRO*C, shell scripts and awk were also used.

Feb 93 - Jan 95

Nortel Canada Ltd. (Senior Programmer Analyst)

Involved in the implementation and customization of a Geac E-Series A/P application. I made extensive software modifications to the core application as well as designed and coded a major new function, the online Invoice Recycle Subsystem, to the main module. On the other hand, I also succeeded in combining tools from the MVS and the Unix platforms to construct a package that downloads data from the A/P application to an intranet site. That project required diverse skills such as Easytrieve+, CA-sort, shell scripts, awk, Perl as well as FTP.

MSA Canada Ltd. (Intermediate Programmer Analyst)

MSA, presently known as GEAC, was then a U.S. subsidiary. I was hired as the very first P/A for the Canadian software customization department. Besides tailoring Geac software (E-Series) to meet end users needs, I also performed diverse functions such as requirement studies, software installations, troubleshooting, performance tuning and customer support. I served numerous external clients including the Ministry of Attorney General and the Ministry of Management Board Secretariat.
