Executive in charge of all operations of a construction firm, custom millwork and steel manufacturing facilities. Established in 1946, the company grew from a small cabinet shop to a large and respected provider of general contracting services, carpentry, concrete, steel fabrication, and custom millwork and architectural furnishings for the automotive, industrial, institutional, commercial, governmental, retail and healthcare markets. Managed, coordinated and oversaw the activities of all company divisions (office locations: Michigan, New Jersey, and Delaware; project sites; nationwide), Conducted weekly, monthly and ad hoc meetings with management team, sales, accounting, project management, supervision and labor, and estimating department. Supervised safety department and developed a detailed Safety Program. Performed many roles on a "hands-on basis" as required
~ Human Resources and Labor Relations: With the exception of office employees, company only employed union field trades and supervision at its job sites, and union workers in its millwork manufacturing facility, warehouse, steel fabrication shop and construction yard.
As the central point of contact with all union and non-union employee categories in the company's local and out-of-town satellite offices, warehouse, and job sites, I was in charge of all human resource and labor relations matters encompassing contact with labor union representatives, contract negotiations, grievances, and compliance with local and out-of-state collective bargaining agreements of over ten separate trades in Michigan and out-of-town job sites. Responsible for hiring/firing and orientation, performance evaluation, providing employees information relating to compensation, fringe benefits, and all other workplace policies. Knowledgeable of federal and state labor laws and experienced with National Labor Relations Board and Equal Opportunity Commission procedures and policies.
~ Accounting: payroll, certified payroll, payroll tax & fringe benefit reporting as required for all union & non-union employees, accounts payable (invoice and check approval), accounts receivable (invoicing, tracking of base contract and extra work and collections); maintenance of accounting files: internal financial reporting/budgeting and preparation of information for outside accountants and bonding agents.
~ Estimating: assisted estimators with bid preparation, "bottom lining" mark-up, maintaining and updating bid schedules with results, estimator assignments for each project; attended "pre-award" meetings with customers and "pre-job" meetings with unions. Assisted estimators maintain working files.
~ Project Management; job cost accounting, project profit-and-loss analysis, maintenance of job files, preparation of project and manpower loading schedules, Communications with and pricing negotiations with customers, subcontractors and vendors. Frequent job site visits and interaction with customer representatives. Coordinated communication between all team members. Assisted project managers with maintenance of working files. ~ Sales and Marketing: provided direction to sales and marketing staff and other field supervisors and professional employees as to targets and approach. Developed marketing materials (photographs, brochures, letters of introduction and a professionally produced video)

Initiated efforts to organize non-signatory employers resulting in an increase in of new signatory employer and union members.
