Over twenty-five years experience in stationery equipment for

Petrochemical and chemical industry. Experienced engineer/leader with

expertise in mechanical integrity and reliability, equipment

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

ROHM AND HAAS COMPANY, ENGINEERING DIVISION - Deer Park, Texas 1987 -

1998

Senior Equipment Engineer

Responsible for troubleshooting equipment related problems for various

Rohm and Haas plants. Supervised contract personnel (5 people) and

consultants working on projects up to $2 million.

! Performed stress analysis of complex equipment using

state-of-the-art methods, including root cause analysis and failure

prevention and

failure analysis. Found and implemented permanent and temporary

solutions avoiding costly downtime.

! Supervised all functions to avoid catastrophic failure of four 70

feet diameter API storage tanks. Developed tank bottom replacement

procedures which avoided ground contamination caused by leaks.

! Developed conceptual design for Geodesic dome roof for Acid Residue

tank for containment of toxic vapor release. Supervised CB&I

engineering for reinforcement calculations using carbon steel bands

(70' dia. Monel Tank, $2 Million capital improvement).

! Compiled frangible roof design calculations using shell of

revolution theory for Acrylic Acid storage tank for runaway

polymerization problems

and major incident/problems at the site.

! Served as leader and in-house expert on Acoustic Emission Testing

(new NDE technique/tool), protective linings and corrosion, as well as

on

FRP and glass lined equipment utilized in batch chemical production

processes.

! Completed assignment as a plant reliability engineer at Philadelphia

plant for maintenance and reliability of all equipment. Developed an

implemented OSHA 1910.119 (Mechanical integrity) and PSM requirements.

Served as leader of the reliability team (pro-active maintenance)

which implemented PA. DER storage tank and Fugitive Emission program

at the plant.

! Developed standards and specifications for flexible metal corrugated

hose, lethal service vessels and heat exchanges, and for glass lined

vessels for procurement of consistent quality equipment.

! Served as member of Total Quality Leadership (TQL) committee for

continuous improvement of vessel design and procurement at company,

teambuilding utilizing continuous improvement concept.

! Served as member of design team on the Freightliner Advanced Concept

Truck (FACT) for transportation of hazardous materials.

! Worked as project leader during plant shutdowns (2-3 week

assignments at several plants). Chicago Heights - Plasite Lining,

acoustic

emission testing of several FRP tanks; Houston - Brick lined HR

Furnaces; and Louisville - Glass lined reactors inspection and

repairs.
