Scientific and Engineering Software, Inc

.

Austin, Texas Software ArchitectJune 1995

- present

Lead GUI architect for PC Client/Server performance modeling product

(SES/Strategizer). Highly interactive application includes directed

graph manipulation. Users would draw network topologies, express

client workloads, databases, and applications models using a

drag-n-drop and dialog-based input facility. Implemented on top of MFC

using Visual C++ for Windows 95/NT. Designed/implemented Strategizer

as an OLE Automation Server and implemented a Visual Basic performance

monitor interface for data import. Specific responsibilities included

overall architecture design and implementation, development schedule

estimates, software requirements specifications, and management of a

team of tree to five developers.

Scientific and Engineering Software, Inc

.

Austin, Texas Senior Software EngineerFebruary 1995

- June 1995

One of three designer/implementors for moving code base onto a

platform independent GUI toolkit (Visix Galaxy). Project was heavily

constrained by legacy requirements. Minimal restructuring of client

code was highly desired. (Project was only partially completed).

Scientific and Engineering Software, Inc

.

Austin, Texas Senior Software EngineerJanuary 1994

- February 1995

Codesigner and primary implementor of user interface for initial

release of object-oriented analysis CASE tool (SES/objectbench). This

product featured extensive animation of object instances, messages,

and state transitions. This visual programming environment totaled

700+ KLOC (GUI + application + translator + simulator) and was done

using ObjectCenter in C++/C.

Scientific and Engineering Software, Inc

.

Austin, Texas Senior Software EngineerApril 1993

- December 1993

Rearchitected shared application layer of code base to support

multiple products (designer and coimplementor). Framework supported

both CASE tool (SES/objectbench) and systems performance tool

(SES/workbench). All development was done in C++ under ObjectCenter.

Scientific and Engineering Software, Inc

.

Austin, Texas Senior Software EngineerDecember 1992

- April 1993

Designed and implemented a graphical desktop for SES/workbench that

functioned as an extended graphical "make" facility. Users dropped

icons and used arcs to specify dependencies among various components

to support multimodule development. All development was done using

C++.

Scientific and Engineering Software, Inc

.

Austin, Texas Senior Software EngineerJanuary 1992

- December 1992

Performed role of applications developer for internationally marketed

software (SES/workbench). Codesigned and implemented a change of

40KLOC from a mixture of C and Pascal into C++, building a proprietary

widget system based primarily on X11. The product was based on visual

programming and was highly interactive, using widget forms, menus,

hierarchical graphs, animation, and hypertext, context-sensitive help,

among others. Redesigned a front end translator from Pascal to C++ and

significantly extended it functionality for later releases. Software

ran on Sun, Apollo, and Vax (VMS) workstations.

20/20

Data Systems, Inc.

Austin, Texas Software Engineer

September 1986

- December 1988

Developed professional quality slide presentation system allowing

users to design slides and transmit results via modem for imaging.

Software ran on high resolution color computer running a windowing OS

(Mac). Software was marketed nationally and was eventually sold to

Claris Corporation (Apple subsidiary). Responsible for complete design

and implementation in C of user interface and application. Parially

responsible for documentation and customer support.

Labworks, Inc

.

Austin, Texas DeveloperJune 1985

- August 1986

Worked with several colleagues developing a visual language prototype

for scientific/engineering laboratory experiments and data analysis.

The product's major asset was a sophisticated user interface which

eased programming difficulties inherent in conventional programming

languages. Company was targeted at attracting venture capital and

landed a development contract with Du Pont. Responsible for codesign

of visual language, designing and implementing of user interface and

development of targeted prototypes. Implemented in Object Pascal.
