CHILD Protection Specialist

As a Child Protection Specialist, I received 15-20 investigations per month. I made critical decision concerning the safety of the children through comprehensive assessment of the family. If the child is determined to be unsafe, my job is to place the child in protective custody; by removing the child from the unsafe environment. A care plan is initiated for alternative temporary placement with a family member. The family will be responsible for the child's care until the completion of the case. If there are no adequate family, the children are placed in the shelter. the case then is screened before the state attorney for shelter care hearing, and adjudication. If the children were deem safe, but the family is experiencing problem, the case is open for Intact services, and monitoring. I completed criminal back ground checks on all the subjects of the report; I completed drug/alcohol assessment on the adults, and domestic violence assessment. if necessary, the parents are referred for counseling and therapy.
