SUMMARY
Eighteen years of diverse work experience as a mechanical engineer
at electric generating stations.
Developed and utilized expertise in
Direction/maintenance engineering for steam turbine generators and
for other power plant equipment. Predictive maintenance, planning,
scheduling and budgeting of power plant equipment. Demonstrated
ability to quickly adapt to short term and long term
changes, accept new challenges and develop new areas of expertise.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
BOSTON
EDISONBoston, MA. (1989 to Present)
Senior Systems Engineer/Mechanical Engineer
Manage steam turbine systems, fluid drives and main lube oil systems
at both of Boston Edison's fossil fueled - steam electric generating
stations. Provide component support for other large rotating equipment
(pumps, fans) and for main steam surface condensers. Responsible
for all aspects of system and component performance - reliability,
efficiency, best practice maintenance, cost reduction, problem
solving, etc. Provide engineering/technical support to maintenance
and operating personnel; provide inspection services, analysis of
operating parameters/assessment of concerns and provide project
management services.
Selected Accomplishments
Project manager for major and minor overhauls of all steam turbines
as well as for two steam surface condenser modification/rebuilds.
Made modifications to Mystic station's units 4,5 and 6 main steam
surface condensers allowing these units to run within strictest
guidelines for boiler water chemistry eliminating all outages due to
condenser leakage, lowering maintenance costs for condenser, boiler
and other steam path components.
Improved inspection and maintenance practices at all main steam
condensers resulting in fewer condenser leaks and minimizing the
maintenance costs associated with damages from those leaks.
Modified the unit one main boiler feed pump's fluid drive resulting in
vibration free operation at all speeds (loads), while extending the
time between fluid drive bearing overhauls from yearly replacement
to several years between inspections. As a senior systems engineer for BECo.,
provided fill-in supervision and coaching of fossil station mechanics.
GENERAL ELECTRIC
Westboro, MA. (1979 to 1989)
Field Engineer
Responsible for all aspects of turbine-generator maintenance work,
ranging from one day site visits for control system problem solving
to total/turnkey project management for major internal inspections,
using GE supplied labor. Customers included Boston Edison, New
England Power, United Illuminating, Central Maine Power, MMWEC
-
