Long-Term thermoelectric devices: Electricity generated for Cleaner air and Sustainability- Marlow Industries
!
Inc., Subsidiary of the II-VI Foundation Incorporated, August 2012-April 2013
Research- Development of thermoelectric materials used to convert heat to electricity or vice versa with reasonable efficiency.
Comparing various thermo-electric (TE) samples subjected to varying heat and time cycle. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM),
Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) were employed for Surface characterization and chemical analysis of
TE samples, Application of High Temperature Polymer Coatings (HTP’s) on TE samples, For determination of electrical conductivity of
TE materials, methods like four-point probe, for thermal analysis methods like Thermo gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential
scanning calorimetry (DSC), Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), Rheometry, spherical spectrophotometry for measuring optical
properties were employed.
! Development of novel Nano-composite wire materials- Encore Wire Corporation, January 2012
Research- Systematic development of composite wire material, Blending of dissimilar polymers and a variety of aqueous nano-particles
mixed using a C.W.Brabender twin-screw mixer and then pelletized. Compression and injection Molding conducted for optimization of
pelletized samples. Tribological studies via Pin-on-disk Tribometry to quantify dynamic friction. Micro-scratch tester measures adherence
between wires layers. Perkin Elmer Thermo gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Dynamic
Mechanical Analysis (DMA) were employed for determination of thermal behavior using Pyris Software.
! Recent Development in Dental ceramics- Ceramic Course Module, Aug 2012
Research- Detailed study of different ceramic restorations, Classification of ceramics based on processing techniques,
microstructure, composition and substructure metal.
Fabrication techniques like Powder Condensation, Slip –Casting, Hot pressing, Computer- Aided Manufacturing (CAD-CAM) were
employed on advanced ceramic systems like silica-based ceramics, oxide high performance ceramics and infiltration ceramics. Hardness
data obtained through Vickers’s micro hardness testing. Samples imaged for SEM and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM).
! Computational Modeling of Cyclic loading in Single Crystal- Computational Course Module using DDLab & ParaDis
Software, February 2012
Research- Dislocation dynamics a discrete simulation method used for investigating the mechanical tests at micron length scale,
Computational determination of stress and strain (Young’s Modulus).
! Heat treatment and Characterization of Titanium 6-4 for Bio-implants, September 2011
Research- Cutting and polishing of Ti 6-4 samples for heat treatment analysis of microstructural transformation. Samples imaged using
Environmental Scanning Microscopy (E-SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Focused Ion beam (FIB)/SEM. Corrosion
tests were performed on Ti 6-4 samples.
! Review of Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC) Systems: For Gas Turbine Applications, September 2011
Research- Lifetime prediction modeling, characterizing thermal and mechanical behavior for long term TBC Systems stability.
Synthesis of Alkyd Emulsion & Coatings- Undergraduate Thesis, Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Matunga,
!
Mumbai, January 2011
Research- Synthesis of Alkyd resin, alkyd based emulsions, alkyd based coatings and their characterizations.
Advancement in Powder Coatings- ICT, Matunga, Mumbai, August 2010
!
Research- In-detail study of Powder Coatings techniques and their curing Mechanisms.
