Lab Assistant, Horry-Georgetown Technical College Computer Technology Department

Installed, deployed, managed, and administered every server, workstation, and application

currently in use by the Computer Technology Degree Department (CPT) at Horry-

Georgetown Technical College.

Proposed, developed, deployed, and currently administer a VMware vSphere 4.1 solution

for students to use as labs in their CPT degree classes. This includes vCenter and ESXi,

which I installed, configured and deployed myself. This virtual environment effectively

runs over 300 Virtual Machines during a semester, all of which are available on-demand

for students to use for their lab exercises. This innovative VMware vSphere deployment

completely changed the method instructors teach the classes and the delivery of the

learning environment to students in the CPT degree.

Deployed and configured a remote access solution for students to use to access their Virtual

Machines off campus, mostly from their home systems, to allow students to use their VMs

off campus. This includes a VPN connection for secure remote access, and Terminal

Services on Windows Server 2008 Enterprise.

Installed and configuring a highly customized Windows 7 Professional image and all

applications on a master image and deployed this image to all workstations in the

department.

Installed, configured, and deployed ZENworks Configuration Management Server 10 on

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10. This includes the ability to initiate imaging for the entire

department from any browser anywhere in less than one minute in a fire-and-forget without

needing to visit any of the systems physically during any time before, during, or after the

imaging initiation, process, and completion.
