Worked as Unix System Administrator, Windows NT Administrator. Installed Solaris 2.x,

created user logins in /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow files and administered the system

performance and user activities.

Analyzed the performance of the Unix system to identify memory, disk I/O and network

problems using ps, netstat, iostat and vmstat values. Partitioned the disks, created new

file systems, mounted them and changed the /etc/vfstab entries

Fine-tuned the kernel by altering kernel parameters such as maxusers, uinode, lotsfree,

desfree and also the TCP/IP parameters like tcp_host_param, tcp_xmit_hiwat, tcp_xmit_lowat

and tcp_recv_hiwat using ndd command.

Prepared Backup Schedule for Incremental and Cumulative Backups. Used tar, cpio, dd,

ufsdump and ufsrestore for backing up and restoring files. Used ping, arp, ifconfig and

traceroute commands to troubleshoot network connectivity.

Ran fsck and fsdb on file systems successfully when critical data got corrupted. Used

alternate super blocks to replace corrupted super block.
